JBL - Hartsfield

I have original Hartsfields with the 075. You don’t get a lot of sparkle but you do get the extension.

Not knowing how accessible the tweeters are assuming they are in ring clamps. Have you ever thought about dropping in a pair of 2405's/077's? The alnico's all use the same body no issues fitting them in. Overall a better tweeter much better dispersion and more extended to a little over 20K. Might add some of that missing sparkle. I have a pair in my 4344 clones and they do sound good.

Rob :)

Thank you for the suggestion. I have thought about that tweeter as well as Faital Pro HF10Ak.

Hi Jeff, did you also try adding a super tweeter at some point? I’ve seen add on tweeters on both the JBLs and on the Vitavoxs. My S2 goes to 14-15k Hz.
The S2 does go higher than the 375. I briefly tried a vintage plasm tweeter but it was clunky.

It seen a few Hartsfields and Vitavox speakers in Asia use the Tannoy super tweeter.

Ralph, how does the Classic Audio Loudspeaker compare in terms of HF extension. I think the original Hartsfields went to 10K in the two ways and then the later three way versions went higher. I have seen some owners experiment with add on tweeters for extension, but not all attempts seem successful.
I seem to recall it employs dual tweeters. I could be quite mistaken about that.
The first time I heard the Hartsfield reproduction was in 1992 at CES. The speakers were driven by an early set of our M-60s They didn't sound rolled off in the highs to me at all. At succeeding shows I've not noticed any problem in that regard either.
