Italian artistry and world class sound...the world of Sonus Faber

Franco Serblin gave up on trying to perfect bass from a speaker. He is reputed to have said, "When you want more bass, you miss it; when you have it, it disturbs you." IMO he was one of the greatest speaker designers ever - I've owned Minimas, Electa Amators, and Extremas (kept for 25 years). His GH design was probably his best work, though the Extremes could do more in right room with right power. You have a work of art and the heart. Enjoy them!
Thanks for your thoughts....I think I am going to hold on to these Homage...n continue to enjoy them!

Hi Bruce,

Yes...I was referring to the Guarneri Homage, vs Memento, Evolution and Tradition. I haven't been lucky enough to hear the others yet...but yes...very happy with the originals, surprisingly so.

I agree with you. Like others have already said, if I could have kept mine, I would have. They belong for me in the pantheon of all time great speakers. The balance of all its virtues is exceptional.

I am a very happy owner of a pair of late production GH's, anno 2004. Since I acquired them a few years ago, I've been using them in a small dedicated listening room- 11' w x 13' deep, but recently reclaimed our much larger living room which I've started to convert to a dedicated audio space. Lots of large windows and hardwood floors to deal with, but even without any acoustic treatment I'm finally hearing just how great these speakers are. Preamp is a MAC C22 V5 paired with a cj Classic 62SE. My goodness. :)

Congrats. For me the Guarneri homage is truly one of the all-time great designs that belongs in the pantheon of great speakers. Incredibly balanced, nuanced and beautiful both in its ability to convey music and in its own physical form.

Totally agree. Deserve the best supporting cast well beyond their price point. I preferred them to the Strads after an extensive home audition due to their magical mids and a very open soundstage. Thought it would be a very easy "upgrade" to Strads when latter was launched but did not turn out to be the case for us. Still miss them! Martin Collom's review of the Accordo Goldberg in Stereophile is very interesting as he also reviewed the original Guarneri back in 1992 I think.

Did you audition the Strads in the same room as the GH?
