iPad Cases

Otterbox. Very well conceived.

I have no concerns about my 4-year old using it now.

A bit OT, but I didn't want to start a new thread. I'm having a difficult time understanding the allure of the iPad. It's a beautiful piece of gear to be sure, but where's the value if I already have a laptop and an iPhone.

good question.

I must say that once you run the same apps on your iPad as on your iPhone it makes it difficult to go back to the iPhone.

Rumor has it that the next generation iPad will have a camera

For me, it is used as a fantastic remote control. It will control Sonos, Control4, and J River.

I use mine to control my theater (Control4) and surf the web at the same time. Had the remote control option not been part of the deal, I would probably not have purchased one.

Very cool interface for Control4 and it is also an outstanding interface/remote for my QSonix Music Server

I'm just using the Apple case, but I do like the look of the Incase unit that has an adjustable thingy that allows you to place the screen at different angles. The one that Steve provided the link to looks awesome though with the bluetooth keyboard, I'd buy that if I could find it.

John, to answer your question, if you have a laptop and iPhone already it may not make sense to get an iPad too. My laptop is for work only, thus many sites (like this one) are blocked. I also travel quite a bit and love the convenience of something that is light, easy to haul, instantly "on" and blatantly fun. I started out looking for an e-reader, bought the iPad thinking it would be a cool toy and find myself using it more and more every day. Surfing the web, e-mail, watching movies, using it as a controller for my Sonus rig, reading in bed... I love my iPad.
