Nagra CDC/CDP? OPPO 105?

I usually stream from the iPad or iPhone through the TV.
Or if I am a bit more serious, then the iPad goes into a DAC.
And when yet more serious, then usually a vinyl starts spinning.
But we have a few CDs and sometimes it is nice to have some background music going.

However…
The Haus-Boss wants to just pop a CD into a player, and not mess with Spotify or a DAC.

Does anyone have any experience with Nagra CDC or CDP, or an OPPO 105?
We do not have a Bluray player, and was looking at some of the players that are multi disk, and do CDs in addition to DVD/BluRay… And then stumbled upon the OPPO as sort the same as the newer Panasonic, etc. choices.

Any thoughts/experience is welcome.
Other than obvious rational of how one can have a $400 do everything player, and something that is more digits of dollars and cents.

I have experience with the Nagra CDC and CDP, but not with the Oppo 105.

To be honest, I’m not sure I understand the point of this comparison. Why would someone on the market for Nagra players ask a comparison against Oppo 105? They’re in entirely different categories. It’s like comparing a dedicated bread knife to a Swiss army knife—each serves a different purpose, and which one is better depends entirely on what you need.

If you’re leaning toward the Oppo and hoping for a justification based on sound quality, unfortunately, the Swiss army knife doesn’t slice bread as well as a proper bread knife. ;) That’s my opinion.

Thanks @mtemur - leaning towards the Nagra, but there seems to be almost nothing available with the older models.
The OPPO at least allows one to play a CD.

And yes - I agree that they are sort of opposite ends of some continuum/spectrum of ways to play a CD.

I totally get your opinion.

Can you get tell me subjectively how the CDC/CDP sounded?
I am hearing that you are saying that it would be different than an OPPO.

Well, as I said before I don't really know how Oppo sounds but Nagra CDP and CDC sound very, very good. Easily listenable for a long period without listening fatigue. I don't think Oppo offers the same level of musicality depending on what I heard from other blu-ray players.

CDP has a volume control and like other Nagras from the same period it uses extremely inexpensive Alps Blue. That potentiometer is not as fluid or as transparent as more expensive alternatives like TKD 2508 but it is very natural and smooth. Beyond that, it suits CDP very well as well as other Nagras in my opinion. CDC sounds great too but if both (CDP and CDC) are offered at the same price I would go for CDP:
