I said I would never buy another Turntable...Argh !!!

I heard the vox for the last four years at Munich and never liked it. Too buttery and soft. Caveat this is a show demo, and such speakers can probably be voiced the way the owner wants.

Germany, and EU in general is an excellent place to do a one week tour to check out various horns.

Comedy act with the Palladiums last year at Munich when some Mundorf capacitor employees came in and lifted up a crossover cover, only to send a puck flying into the Palladiums veneer which was visibly chipped. Nice. Not:D

Ha! Right up there w putting diesel in a Ferrari.

If I had not talked to Jarek before, I would get the rack from David too. Simple, smart with good value. Big enough to put any anti-vibe platform on later. Gentleman enough David never pushed me into buying his rack. I also bought two 3012Rs from David to be used with AS. The third arm will be SAT which Marc Gomez is doing an armboard for me at the moment. I will put GFS, ZYX and Opus1 on these arms.

thanks Tang. i hope your AS-2000 get's installed soon so i can learn from you about it before mine arrives. your arm and cart line-up on the American Sounds will be awesome.....and educational for me.

Tang, why not another SME with the MSL, since you got space for one more.:p

Thank you Tang. I completely understand. I do not mean to rush you. In good time I will be interested to read about your impressions. It will take a long time for these cartridges to break in and be optimized. I agree that there should be similarities between the Opus 1 and MSL. Same designer and this is what I hear with the Supreme and Signature Gold. Enjoy your many listening options.

Dear Peter,

I havent much time listening to the MSL. This past week I listened 95% the AtlasSL on 927.

I know you await the feedback. One thing I can say for sure the MSL cannot be better than the Opus1 by a significant margin if it ever be better at all. I have the MSL on my second SAT so variables are only on tt and the cart itself. Right out of the box, it sounded very good with all the same characters as Opus1. I was even fast mouth to emailed Gian saying it is a less expensive Opus1. That shows how similar they appear to me. My commemt here is not useful but this is all I can say at the moment.

Kedar, in 2014 and 2015 they demoed the Vox Olympian which sounded better IMHO than the following two years where it was the Vox Palladium.
For me, in 2014 and 2015, this room (with the Vox Olympian) was in a league of it's own. Way better than any other room.

With the Vox Palladium, the gap shrunk IMHO.

2014 had the best WE demo. The vox was like a toy in comparison. And the tune audio Anima in the opposite room to vox was better.

In 2015 Anima sounded bad. WE was quite good. 2016 they got some weird sounding WE, and the Anima and the universum both sounded very good. And 2017 the WE and the 130k Euro Odeon sounded nice.

I didn't like vox any of those years.

I don't count the WE demos because they are not available.
They are a very welcome and interesting antipode to the rest of the show

+1

I spoke today with the Turntable Designer of the Decade. Yes, the man himself. Yes, that one!

I asked David to make me please when the time comes a three shelf version of his custom, matching stainless steel stand for the AS-2000.

(So I plan to have a custom Herzan stand on each side of the turntable stand.)

I almost bought another uber arm that a few of you were talking about to use it for 4th. But the gesture of the designer of that arm to me was not so humble. So I called it off. MSL is too close to the Opus1 so I don’t want to put on the same tt. I want to hear different characters. Maybe an Etna Mono as the 4th. but don’t know the arm yet. I really want to find out about this 3012R more than any other arms at the moment.

Kind regards,
Tang

My Graham Elite...if you don’t loosen the top hex screw, you fracture/break the internal male DIN connector if you try to rotate a tonearm cable one direction or the other without first loosening the top hex screw. The lower one holds the din in place in place and grounds the Din to the tonearm. Mine is fractured and makes a low level ground hum. Not acceptable. Too speed things up, bob was kind enough to send me a new DIN connector today where I will perform the micro soldering of the wires. Lesson learned.

How do you align the cartridge with that head shell given it only has holes for the screws and not slots?
With SME alignment is done by moving the arm and not the cartridge, suggest you download the manual from Vinyl Engine.

Thanks David.

I have the manual but I haven't yet tried to set up the arm. First I need to get the arm board cut and then I can go at it.

Just read the manual. Seems very straightforward.
