I am sick of failing amplifiers

You need an audio generator, a variable resistor and then your DVM set to Ohms to really know the impedance. You have to measure it at several frequencies. So it takes a bit of work.

6 Ohms... are you using the 4 Ohm taps on your amps? It its really 6 Ohms the 4 Ohm taps are likely better than the 8 Ohm taps.

Or using REW or SpectraPlus with a soundcard and a 1kohm resistor. Add a 10 ohm 1% resistor if you need accuracy!

Before someone asks - this is not the impedance measurement of the Wilson Audio XLF!

My amps don't have taps.
Why do I want to know?

Actually, I have been messing with an L.Pad resistor calculator to dial my new horn in. I gather the resistors can impact phase. I need a way to measure phase and impulse to blend the midbass and tweeter. As well as the woofers.

The impedance of the speakers can affect the sound if the they don't match the impedance that is expected at the output of the amp. That's kinda big deal with tube amps.

The LPad won't change phase much (caps do more of that) but it will affect level. The LPad could affect phase if is varying the crossover frequency.

I will ask what impedance my amp is designed to see.

I was mulling on this and mentioned to a friend, while all my amps have not failed. Many having 0 issues. I have never owned a amp I'm fully satisfied with.
Pieces I am fully happy with:
Preamp
TT
Server and DAC.
Torus filters and power panels
(...) I have considered a CJ classic 62SE to biamp with the Blade. Use a Sublime Acoustic ceossover to blend the gains and some of the crossover functions. But I would still be using the passive on the mid/high drivers.

What is the crossover frequency?

I think the 15" woofers at 600. The midbass at 1200. I think. I would have to run pink noise again with a microphone to see the cutoff.
