How Challenging is it to Convert Voltage (from one Continent to Another) and not Lose what designer intended?

If one gets a piece of gear from a different continent that has a different voltage, what does it take to maintain the same sound?

Can using wrong parts mess up the sound that the designer intended?

Even in the same country you might not get what the designer intended due to a wide range of power generation and distribution issues. I had this problem in spades with a US manufacturer.

And unless you can be two places at once, there’s no way to do a serious comparison.

FWIW, some gear is more sensitive to power variations than others. You really have to take this question on a case by case basis.

Excellent point. I always found power products to enhance the nature of the sound of the original component, but change the nature completely?
