I have no affilation with Holbo but am a fan of tangiential arms and simplicity of design (see our Ars Machine turntable, Westminster amplifiers etc.). The Holbo table/arm has interested me for a number of years. I encourage everyone who loves analog and has held the feeling value is gone from the high-end biosphere to purchase this exceptional analog playback product and support Holbo. At this price its an insane value. All one need do is add a Hana Red or Soundsmith cartridge and near reference quality sound can be yours for $USD 10k. Heck I may buy one for myself and use it in place of my vintage Micro Seiki DDX-1000 in my second system!

gleeds, thank you for the very positive comment about the Holbo turntable. Everything you wrote is very true, but it is true that Holbo is not problematic with the choice of cartridge. I have over 100 photos of cartridge customers all over the world, mounted on a Holbo turntable. I will definitely post some of them on WBF. To start with, a Holbo from HK with Koetsu Onyx Platinum:)1 holbo mk2 + koetsu onyx platinum...jpg

Glad to see the iconic Koetsu product reconstituted in the US with Arturo Manzano and Jean-Francois of AnaMightySound in France!

Hello all, I am not affiliated with Holbo, just a very satisfied customer of Holbo. I have owned my Holbo turntable since 2018, and have tried and used several different cartridges over time. These include van den hul Grasshopper, various Denon and Dynavector cartridges, as well as very budget models from Nagaoka.

I love the design and overall build quality of my Holbo, it is relatively easy to set up, and once set, you forget about it and go about just playing your music. I think it has an elegant, yet simple design, and does not look like an oil rig that so many linear tracking tables do. The table gives great adjustability for various cartridges one would want to use. The air pump that goes to arm and platter bearing is extremely quiet, it can be used in same room as the table without any noise interfering with music.

My table is the first series(MK1), and I see the current model has made some great updates, but takes nothing away from the basic design concept that Bostjan has incorporated into the design. This turntable has been fantastic, problem free with no issues over the time I have owned it, more importantly though, it just communicates the soul of music, and I love it so very much. I have felt it has represented an extremely great value, but now with direct purchasing, an even more value is given. This table is well worth auditioning, and will bring such music to one’s ears and soul. Also, I must say, that Bostjan has been wonderful to do business with when I purchased my Holbo. Again, give it a try if possible. It could well be your last turntable! I know it is for me! Tim

I have had my Holbo turntable for a couple of months. I have the top of the line Haniwa cartridge on it which costs twice that of the turntable. It is a perfect pairing.
It is right up there with the best sound I have heard. Visitors agree.
I think it’s the best deal in audio. If it were priced based on SQ it would be a lot more expensive.

Holbo, if I'm not rude to ask, can you specify what commercial air pump you're using?
I run an air bearing linear tracking Terminator tonearm, low pressure and low flow at 15 litres/minute, currently running a cheap as chips aquarium pump Hailea V-20 and am considering a quieter Alita AL-15A which operates at 30dB.

Not at all, you're right to ask. I use an industrial HIBLOW air pump, it's not cheap at all, it's quiet, but I have it in a completely airtight housing. This reduces noise to a minimum. Otherwise, the Holbo plater/tonearm design uses very little air because it has very small tolerances and very precise machining.

Appreciate the response. My Terminator similarly is very low pressure and flow rate, as opposed to the butcher demands of arms like the Kuzma Airline.
I've always been tempted to house my pump in an acoustically fully insulated enclosure, but can't work out how to do that while the pump requires a continuous input of air from the outside.

If you look at the picture of the pump above, you can see that it has two nipples. Suction and exhaust. With the Holbo airpump, both nipples are connected to a 1 micron filter and routed to the external housing. On the suction side, there is another filter/separator on the outside of the housing, which further reduces noise. The whole thing is enclosed in an airtight heavy steel housing. You can use the Holbo airpump in the same room without any problems. It is absolutely silent.

Overall then, the new Holbo Mk II is an excellent turntable. It reproduces vinyl LPs with the sort of ease, naturalness, precision and solidity that you hear from mastertapes. At the same time, it has all the effortlessness, depth and spaciousness you only get from the finest vinyl front ends. Partner it to a suitable cartridge, and you'll hear your prized LP records reproduced stupendously well. The sound will be as good as it gets – or maybe even better!
