Has anyone moved on from idlers, Garrards??

@Maril555 did you use mylar or tape when you had the Galibier or was that thread too at that time? i am thinking about moving from thread to tape and so am interested if anyone has any experience.
I used the belt Galibier was making, non-stretch, I forgot the material name (kapton maybe?) They sell a different one now

just finished trying:
1/4" SM900 tape: not quiet...doesn´t quite fit the pulley
round silicon belt...wandering a little and not quiet

back to silk thread so far
will order Origin Live custom belt in 1600mm length

same as regular audio tape.....but I have splicing blocks on my A80s and cut diagonal...re
gular 1/4 was too wide for Melco pulley and also made sticking sound towards platter

reached out to Origin Live and they answered within minutes, so I ordered a custom length 1600mm

Yes, 1/4 was also too wide for my Rockport Capella II pulley, so I looked for this narrower Mylar ribbon! Also yes, it made some noise when the splice enters the pulley, but the noise became less and less after a couple hours of use!

Please let us know how well the Origin Live belt works! I also plan on trying out this seamless fabric belt from Galibier

EMT 930 vs TD124 at Jaap Pees, on Altec model 17 (one 604g driver) with 1.5w AD1 amp (and also 8w KR300b amp) built by him with tango transformer.

Also the black OMA cast iron plinth technics sp10 mk2.

He also has mk3 and new sp10r.

All carts different though, vdh on 124, TSD15 on 930, Thorens cart on technics

Which combination sounds best in your opinion?
Normally, not having compared next to EMT 930, I prefer the Schopper TD 124 the most of these idlers, and I also liked dcc's TD 124 made by Jaap Pees.

However, here the vdh on Graham Phantom was disturbing the balance of the system. And the EMT with EMT arm and EMT cart sounded more balanced and musical, even though a bit less detail.

Jaap says the EMT can't be made as quiet as the 124.

The Technics was interesting. Jaap uses it only as a measurement reference, to get the 124 as close as possible to that measurement (he restores and completely does up all these idlers). He does like listening to the Technics, and we both agreed why in sound - he also does not like hunt and seek or feedback.

However, he said the OMA cast iron plinth which has damping built in it that you can feel from the underside, is the best possible for reducing noise. And very expensive to make.

The lower half was more nuanced on the technics. it was decent, but it had a flat/narrow sound in the vertical dimension.

Very interesting listening session with Kedar some remarks both the EMT930 and the TD124 Reference were used with three-phase power supplys the later with Papst synchronous motor upgrade.
To compare the three different turntables serious it's better to use the same cartridges , a TSD15 sfl lacks resolution in compare with the vdHul Stradivarius , the Audio Technica in the SP10 also.
