Has anyone heard the Devialet D-Premier Integrated Amp/DAC

FYI, I got this in reply to my inquiry regarding Devialet software updates.

Dear Howard,

The next firmware/software pack should be released any day this week.

Best regards,

Thierry

Hello Guys!

I am a new user of this board. Found this thread searching and reading a lot stuff concerning the Devialet D-Premier for some weeks now. Just registered due to this theme and the latest products. Sorry, when my english shouldn't be the best. I am from Germany.

I do have some information to the hardware upgrades: Talked about it to the german distributor a couple of days prior to the Highend in Munich and they told me, that the costs for an upgrade of the D-Premier will depend on the date of purchasing. The younger D-Premiers should be upgradet for a price, that is near to the price difference between the D-Premier and the Devialet 240. And the costs will go up to the mentioned prices on the devialet-site the older your D-Premier is. I think, that would be fair if it turns out to be true.

I had a look at the new finish dark chrome some days ago and I like it very much. It is told to be a little bit harder and less sensitive. For your information: Black and white will probably be possible soon. Had a view on every color, but liked the new dark one most. Saw a Devialet 170 also. All parts that are not visible are made of plastic material. So is the bottom of the smaller Devialets and of the new remotes also.

Unfortunately the sound quality is still unclear. Couldn't listen to the new Devialet 170. The one I saw might have been a prototyp only. There was no remote. I don't think, it well be worse at all. But wonder if a 170 wouldn't be enough instead of the big one. Have to wait for the first reviews I guess.

I think I will go with the Devialet 240 as I heared the D-Premier before which was perfect to me as it matched best with my loudspeakers. But probably the Devialet 170 would be fine also?! As Devialet says that they all sound the same. Can't believe that the price difference has no influence on the final sound?!

Thanks for the update info and welcome to WBF

Does anybody know when and where the Firmware 6 will be available? It's not on their website and the week is over. I also never received any anouncement email from them, have others?

And there is John Atkinson's review follow-up on the phono stage. He seems to be happy about it.

I thought John had gone all digital like a few other reviewers on Stereophile?

Attention:

The 11.0.3 update of iTunes may cause some problems with the Devialet AIR 1.5. Devialet is aware of this.
It will be solved by the release of Devialet AIR 2.

The new iTunes update works perfectly for me???

Where can I read Atkinsons opinions on the phono stage??

The iTunes 'warning' is an info from Devialet itself on their pages.

Fond just one single posting so far on pink fish media:
I have a Devialet and their wireless streaming AIR no longer works properly since I "upgraded" iTunes. Pause breaks the whole thing and requires restarting both iTunes and the streamer. I went back to Amarra and a wire which still works fine with the new version. I have bitperfect but it results in some odd popping noises sometimes so I haven't used it for yonks.

Does anyone know the technical details how the new software actually works with something like Jriver or Amarra ? I asked Thierry about JRiver but he didn't know the setting ( WASAPI ?)

As far as I know Devialet has plans for ASIO for the new AIR driver on Windows. May not be released with the first version so we will have to wait and see

Nothing on May 27th, but the download page is now active it seems. No v6.0 yet, only 5.7.1 so far... https://help.devialet.com/entries/23419527-How-to-update-the-internal-software-firmware-
Unfortunately not. And now concrete answer from devialet, when it will be launched.
I have heard, that the introducing of the Devialet 110/170 will last some more couple of weeks. And some more additional weeks for the Devialet 240. That is (much) longer than expected. One week ago the german distributor was talking about 2 weeks. Maybe some problems with the new firmware 6 also?!

Additional (latest) information:

The Update 6 will be released this week. They are working on some fine-tuning stuff.

Now there is a 5.7.3 as zip online

Unfortunately every input on the sites of Devialet is without date of publication. I am also missing a schedule of the updates and their changelogs! Or is there something hidden on the sites? Can´t find anything even within the zip. In my eyes it would be helpfull, to know what has been fixed oder changed with which update an when.

Looking at the files in this archive it looks like a version 5.7.2beta I have been using on my D-Premier since December 12. Only one file has time stamp from 2013. If it is this version it sounds very nice indeed. Let us hope v6.0 will give real improvements compared to this

Right, there is one time stamp from May 27th. I wonder why they launched it now, as version 6 is already anounced for this week?!

Not sure where it was announced to release this week. However I have been told two dates by Devialet so far and both have been missed. One more day left this week before it is the third miss for me. Hopefully they will come through.
