Mr. Gary Clark Jr is getting a lot of play on the airways these days...including this video:

He has some interesting chops, BUT what's more interesting is the VERY large collection of vinyl behind his group...and for the keen of eye..RtoR also:D

I've been tripping on GCJr for a few years now..his live shows have been circulating.

I love the record, and he was great on Letterman!

DOUBT he is a Phile..record was done mostly in Pro Tools at 48 Khz.;)

Andre, i'm not saying that the recording is in any way a'phile...BUT look behind the group in the video and what do you see:D

Actually, what I was saying is that no audiophile would record to Pro Tools.

BTW, the CD is way, way louder and more compressed than the download.

I'm sure your'e right Andre, but I suspect that someone seems to like vinyl and RtR...we don't know who that someone is, probably not Gary Clark Jr, but who knows?

Probably the work of a professional set designer and prop specialist..I would not read too much into it.

I would preferred he ditched the video crap and concentrated on recording the album to tape.

Agreed. I haven't heard much of his work, for some reason this song is getting a LOT of air time. Gary must have a good manager if nothing else. It's interesting in today's world that one doesn't need to concentrate at all on sound quality, simply work on maximum exposure and the rest will take care of itself.
A great example of this is Adele, I like her songs ( well most of them) and think she has talent, but her recordings are ****:(.Look at the air time she gets.

Agree completely.

Well, you would not have heard much of Clark Jr's work, as he only has one album out..prior to that a 4 song EP
and circulating live tapes. Why he chose to make his CD sound like dogshit is beyond me. As I mentioned the higher
resolution download is as much as 4 dB quieter...but still you can't polish a turdy pro tools recording.

Agree too about Adele. Like some of the songs but the recordings are meh....though not terrible.
I actually prefer Duffy.
