It really pains me to do this, but I've made the decision to move my Rockport Aquila on to a new home.
I honestly thought that this would be the last pair of speakers that I'd ever buy, save for a replacement dictated by a change in room size. I love these speakers and in my experience they are one of those rare designs that seem to do everything right and little wrong. I've driven them with low and high power solid state (Esoteric, Boulder, Levinson, Rowland) as well as high power tubes (VTL) and the speakers have never left me wanting for anything (some of the amps did, but that's another story). These have that rare ability to mine massive amounts of detail from recordings without ever letting the detail get in the way of the music.
Some details of my initial acquisition and impressions are here: http://www.whatsbestforum.com/showthread.php?2975-My-Rockport-Saga
The Aquila is a three-way design using a modified Scanspeak D30 ring radiator along with custom carbon fiber composite 6" and 13" drivers manufactured by Audiotechnology. The cabinet is Andy Payor's infamous all out assault on constrained layer dampening using a combination of advanced composites and MDF.
These were discontinued by Rockport about a year ago with no direct replacement. I'm only selling because it has become important that my system maintain current product as much as possible. At this point I'm not sure what I'm going to replace them with and depending on how things go in the next few months it could be anything from a pair of Atria to Altair.
I know of no cosmetic flaws nor any events which could have caused a flaw. Functionally, they are perfect.
The color is the usual Rockport gloss black.
I'm asking $27,500 for the pair (retail was $46K) and have all of the original crates, packaging and accessories.
We're in the process of moving them to Phoenix to display in the showroom and once that's done I'll be able to post some photos.
