Favorite TV shows thread

Sacred games is ok, not this level. Tried first two episodes of Peaky.

"favorite" is a big word.

The Magicians ended on ScyFy. Realistically though I wouldn't encourage anyone to watch past Season 4 however. The first season is a little slow to get into but it was just awesome as a whole.

The Expanse season 1-3 were baller AF. The first few episodes are whirlwind of stuff starting up. Season 4 owned by Amazon is... the beginning of something good or the miserable death of something good.

NCIS and NCIS New Orleans are ok. I wouldn't make the effort to watch them if I didn't have them for free (the channels).

I'll admit to watching The 100, even though it's not very good.

If we're going to talk about past shows... Downton Abbey I liked a lot, but mostly season 1 and the movie. Season 2 was decent, season 3 is like Jerry Springer compared to season 1.

Last television series which I like - Altered carbon season 1
La casa de papel, "The House of Paper" Season 1 & 2

The Wire- still no equal
The Sopranos
Game of Thrones
Mad Men
Seinfeld

Boardwalk is good for 2-3 seasons, then goes downhill. I’m watching the Leftovers now which is super depressing so far.

I think the problem is Ked is looking to extra things he won't know for sure from us... Those are pretty hard not to know!

Thread is mis-titled, should read "find me entertainment".

I am looking for favorite show recommendations from different people. So what I have not seen, I will gradually give all of them a try.

I am right with you on these @KeithR ......I can’t believe no one has mentioned Fleabag though. Another vote for Succession too.

I'm finally gonna dive into The Wire and Mad Men. I still feel Breaking Bad is close to unparalleled in modern TV, I can't think of another program w such well rounded and believable characters. If you were an actor cast on that show, it will have been the high point of your career. Proved by the subsequent stall in Jesse/Aaron's acting CV since.
And the existential Qs that BB asks, well they're some of the most important ones to men.

I can't sit through much in the way of TV shows, but recently did watch two entire series - Ray Donovan and Bosch.. Enjoyed both quite a bit, and probably Ray Donovan the most. They really need to find a way to put out a final season! Lt. Daniels (The Wire) is in Bosch. Bosch is also enjoyable for jazz fans, as you'll see.

One of the cool things about the Wire is how all the major characters took starring rolls after.

Have read all of the Bosch books and the series is really good

I didn't like the first two episodes of Bosch, does it pick up, or it's the same?

It takes a while to hit its stride. They typically combine the plot lines from multiple books. Took me a season + to accept Titus Welliver as Bosch. The character of Jerry is much better than in the books.

Just keep in mind that season two of the Wire is a little off, and you may just need to labor through it to get to the goodness that lies thereafter.

I’ve read a bunch of those books too. The series definitely takes a moment or two to hit its stride but at this point I’m all in. It’s well done but (obviously) not quite up to where the books put you...
