Evolution Acoustics MM3

Hi

I question the brutal increase in price from $70K (MM3) to the MM7 ( 235,000?) ... One could buy three MM3 at that price.. However if I were to judge by what I am reading here on the WBF there seems to have significant improvement from the MMOne to the MM2 to the MM3 why would that stop with the MM7? ..Based on EVO Acoustics track record, it is reasonable to expect the MM7 to surpass the MM3 ...

It's a lot easier to get a smaller speaker sounding good than one with 4 towers... Just ask Gary. Besides, the MM7 has totally different woofer drivers and crossovers.

I worry the speakers might overload the room. That is one heck of a lot of subwoofers. Does Mike think he might have to change his listening position to accommodate such a change

the bass towers have 4 different pairs of subwoofers and amps with 4 independant adjustments. my room is 21'x 29' x 11'. the whole drop ceiling is a bass trap, and there are 4 built-in bass traps along the rear wall.

not to worry.

Just wondering whether Verity Audio and anything from the Focall Utopia line are on your (not) short list?

It would be interesting to see what a room correction system with EQ, time and phase alignment between the towers and an active cross over would do. The 4 channel Trinnov ST2-Pro would do all of this, but you would need to run separate outputs to each tower. Not a chance someone with analog sources is going to try this (becuase of A/D conversion required) and Jonathon abhors the idea, but for just digital sources I think it could work quite well.

Hi

The concept of overloading a room becasue of bass capabilities of speakers is not one I abide to. The room has to be big enough to accommodate the physical size of the speakers and allow adequate speaker and listening positions.

Would adding 4 gothams strategically located in the room and building an active digital crossover get you the same performance as spending >$150K on two dedicated bass towers, for a fraction of the cost?

Tend to think the same ...

you probably wont even need 4 Gotham subs but rather 4 G113 or 4 G112 subs

You will need a digital processor to construct the cross-over and time / phase align the subs and the mains though. For analog sources this would require A/D conversion which will be a dealbreaker for most. Native DSD also need not apply because these processors do not exists in the DSD domain.

Bruce the best is the best. I Just hope you chose something outside the big four. (Wilson, EA, Magico or Rockport)
