looking at the Esoteric T1 website, (scroll all the way to the bottom) they have an arm board for the Reed 5T/5A. looking at the Reed website it appears that the 5P uses the same arm board mount. you would have to investigate to make sure, of course. but odds are you are good to go.

you would be welcome anytime.

On the reed, I did see that on the web site yesterday. Just double checking - retailers do not accept returns these days.

Do you run your analog thru a separate phono stage?

you would have your dealer check with Reed and Esoteric both that the geometry and weight of 5P arm would work properly. they have their process very dialed in since each arm board is custom. the downside is that it does take time. but the quality is first rate.

yes; for my 3 stereo arm/cartridges i use the EMIA Phono Corrector and EMIA MC Trio SUT.

for my mono cartridge i do use the internal darTZeel NHB-18NS Mk2 phono stage (i have two of those in my dart preamp).

Just to clarify...it's the turntable platter that is naked? :eek:

i used the paper mat briefly that comes with the T1 but now go naked. i have not tried other mats. i'm just very happy with the liveliness as it is.

I use the TEAC washi paper mat, as well as the Dohmann record clamp on my T1. I find it has dramatically lowered the background noise in my playback, but possibly at a small expense of reduced liveliness.

Those are both really great products though, and we are talking about personal taste here.

just listened to 'Snooky' on the T1 with the Audio Technica cartridge. played it around a few audio shows over the years, and on every combination of tt i've ever had. it's one of my basic go-to's, most played, cuts.

Snooky, a cut off of an original Basie Pablo 'Mostly Blues and Some Others', has some of the most delicious high hat and other delightful high frequency fireworks, all in service to the music. the whole album is really a treasure, and carries through that magical top end realism.

OMG, this is on another planet, on passages i've heard so many times. this unified stylus cantilever is a game changer.

a big leap in believability. over the line of suspension of disbelief. and.......with a better arm and the clock? :eek:
@Mike Lavigne
Hi Mike, apologies if you have already covered this.
Interested to know if you had settled on an arm/cart combination preference for the AT-MC2022?

I have a AT-ART1000X arriving shortly (has similar arm spec requirements)and would be keen to hear where you ended up.
