At my work desk I play music from speakers , but also headphones .
I have an old sennhiser he60/hev70 amp . It's a made for the purpose setup by sennhiser .
Now a disadvantage in using them is when I go back speakers . It's stunning how most of the music is there but perceived perception is soo changed it takes my brain a hour to settle .
To make this already great sound I cheat a bit . I use a 300b set amp headphone out to feed the hev70 input . I have a better stat amp as well as stax 009 , yes it's in someways better but at the cost of some level of musicality.
I have re capped the hev70 and used same values . Is it better ? I can say yes it now plays louder before the clipping indicator flashes red . I also use a linear psu too.
Maybe it's my age but the headphones seems to make it easier to hear .
A note on what lacks, for one stage only speakers and open cans like raal give a stage like speakers . But in doing so moves the players further away and to me effects the hyper detailed sound.
Really good ear buds get me close , but headphones just place me inside the music.
To think how cheap this setup is compared to how ultra expensive audio is now .
Please share your desktop setups I'm sure I'm not alone .

Sony IER-M9 with Qudelix 5K is my portable setup
