Watched "Pirates of the Caribbean, On Strange Tides" on my Sony OLED visor that I got for Playstation gaming. I really liked it, best of the series. It is more of a Johnny Depp vehicle, which is probably appropriate, a bit less CGI but more story and rousing adventure than the priors. Keith Richards looks like he can heft twenty pounds of makeup in a single wrinkle.

No, it was the standard 2D DVD on a Playstation 3. It was lovely, nontheless, on the OLED panels, but 720p shows a bit of grain. I have yet to try a 3D blu ray.
The visor does 3D, and I have been playing "Drakes Deception" Playstation game in 3D which is very nice. I have also watched some of the demo 3D stuff on cable by hooking up the cable HDMI to the visor. It is a very reasonable experience compared to a movie 3D, with better color and contrast due to no polarizing glasses being involve, but with the slight visible graininess of 720p.
The OLEDS are .6 inch, but give about a 120 inch/10 feet away viewing experience in general, but you still know your are wearing glasses. It is great for game play and seems to be the viewing version of choice for that application.

I use the PS3 for gaming and DVD/Bluray playback. It also does 3D. My wife won't let me get a large 3D TV, and I am still in love with the fantastic picture from my Sony VPL VW200, so the visor was a sort of double solution to 3D and gaming.
But how come you don't have the Blu-ray version of POTC IV, and only the inferior DVD version?

Actually, I am extremely content with the present Sony 2D projector, haven't seen much that I like better than the VPL VW200.
I don't buy movies, seldom watch them more than once, though I may watch POTC IV again if I get a hold of the blu ray 3d. Beautifully filmed movie. I just watched the DVD from the Pleasanton library.
I did see the anglicized version of "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" at the theaters the day before it left the Dublin cinemas. It used the Sony 4K digital system and the picture quality was fantastic, kind of a ramped up VPL VW200 on a larger screen. The opening animations in the movie were phenomenal.
My wife doesn't like to go to movies and concerts that much, won't pay the price, so I have to sneak out once in a while and catch something at the theater.
The visor is actually enough for my 3D appetites, and I plan to get the 1080p version when and if Sony produces one. A slightly larger screen, less or absent grain, more comfortable headseat, and better optics and it might supplant a projection system for single person viewing.

Last night I was rewatching 'The Tree Of Life' on Blu-ray; but this time I paused it at few places (popcorn, ice cream, bathroom, smoke, etc.) during the movie's full running time.
How many people here own that Blu-ray disc, and did you notice something peculiar when repressing the Pause or Play button from the Pause standby mode?
