Color me puzzled. The Klipsch La Scalas sound bloody marvelous!

I’m going to add a Best Buy to my list of components that work well with the La Scala. The Eversolo PLAY is IMHO the hifi bargain of the century. A full-featured Roon Ready streamer with a state of the art DAC, a great phono stage, a 60 watt amplifier, a built-in room correction that uses your smartphone as the microphone and much more. It doesn’t make cappuccino but it does everything you want in an all-in-one component that’s light enough to carry with one hand. You’d have to spend 20X its $799 list price to significantly better it in all the things it does well. It sounds smooth and composed with the La Scala. And it’s quiet. Unlike most of the SET tube amps I’ve tried. Even many solid state amps are noisier than the PLAY.

Listening now to one of my favorite melt-your-heart melodies by Gerry Mulligan — Etude for Franca. The two minute introduction to Brazilian singer Jane Duboc’s sultry Portuguese singing will go down as one of the most memorable melodies in jazz history. The PLAY gets it mostly right but of course a $799 component is not going to blow you away like a $40 grand Lampizator DAC, or my 175 pound ARC 750SE tube behemoths. But at the price, wow.

Is this album a large file download, how are you playing it in the Play?
