Are GEC & UK Mullard 6L6G’s (CV1947’s) the same?

I’ve been wanting to try the old UK GEC 6L6G’s. I’ve not seen any come up except a few that are way overpriced, but found some Mullard branded ones for less that seem like they could be the same tubes. Anyone know if Mullard & GEC branded (or other UK made) 6L6G’s are the same like with their KT66’s/77’s/88’s? I was told for those KT ones that GEC made them, but some were branded by Mullard. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I took a look at the images on the thread you posted.

The tube above is made by Tungsram, Tottenham factory, probably for the government WW2 effort? Its a CV1947, directly equivalent to a 6L6G. I know the box says Mullard.

These all appear to be made by Cossor, specifically by their subsidiary Electronic Tubes Ltd. in High Wycombe, after 1945. These are CV1947s probably off the same production lines that made 'Cossor' branded CV1947s for the government during the war. Again, 6L6G equivalents, all Cossor.

These tubes (your second post with pics) appear to be M.O. Valve Co. Ltd. VT75s, probably made between 1939 and 1945 under license from Cossor. Im not certain on the dates but they were most likely for the war effort. Why do the bases look like GEC you ask? Because M.O. Valve Co. Ltd. (MOV) was a Marconi and GEC joint effort.

The CV1947s are 6L6G equivalents. I dont know all the companies that made them. Brimar, Cossor, Tungsram at least.

The VT75s are KT66 equivalents, but like, real old. I wouldnt purchase them except as collectibles. They are not exact equivalents to CV1947 or 6L6G. You could substitute them but they wont sound the same.
