I think Amazon has the right strategy with a cheaper unit to compete. I offered my wife the iPad 2 or Amazon Fire to read her books in color and she opted for the Amazon based on size and ease of integration with their bookstore. For $200, it is easy to dedicate the unit to book reading alone. Not so easy at $500.IMO it's going to be tough for the other tablets to come close let alone catch up with the iPad. I thought the Ipad2 was amazing but the 3 trumps it
Jobs: Hey Cook, is this best you can do? "New iPad???" Really?
Really wish the rumors of a smaller iPad are true as for a remote control which is my other app for it, it is too big. A high-resolution but smaller unit at lower cost would be a great win.
you can bet that the ipad3 came from the mind of Steve Jobs as will his road plan of things to come for the next several years
They are too small. Not looking for something that first in a pocket yet not as big as the iPad. The form factor of the Kindle Fire is very good. That's the iPod Touch or iPhone.

I think it is still too small. If you are reading books or browsing your music library, using it for automation where you see a view of who is at your front door together with the controls for your AV equipment, you want more than 5 inch. Good news is that with Android you get such variety of choices. This is truly a repeat of the Mac vs Windows again with Google/Android playing the role of the latter. What about the Galaxy Note? 5.3" screen...pretty sweet!
Sad to say, I agree with Tim. They will still be building reliable evolutionary products rather than the revolutionary products of the Steve jobs era. Also expect it's share price to stabilize and remain consistently boring just as Microsoft's value has plateaued the last several years.
I'm not so sure that either of you is correct. In some ways, the iPad and the iPhone were and are an evolution of the ipod. The ipod and iTunes were revolutionary. However, i hope and believe that Apple has enough highly skilled and talented people to keep pushing the envelope.
Not sure that Microsoft does or ever really did...naturally with the exception of Amir![]()
What is revolutionary about the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad is not portable music, telephones or tiny computers - all that had been done before, all of that was evolutionary at best - the revolution is the user interface and the proliferation of useful, fun, extraordinary...and cheap applications.
