On further consideration, I'm going to delete my original post, it's distracting from the thread.
Please delete your replies to me re that.

You are more than welcome to visit again. The Wadax Studio Player is the best digital I have had in my system. Streaming can be surprisingly good but generally CD/SACD trumps it. Good as my digital is I still listen far more to vinyl and that is only likely to increase as I continue to “upgrade” my vinyl collection (first pressings, best performances etc)
Steve
I plead the 5th on that topic! Now this will become a digital vinyl thread - someone from the digital tribe will politely ask you to expand on that, with a catch that makes the thread go boom

ne area that intrigued me was sitting more nearfield than I'm used to
...and Mike Lavigne?
Maybe you’re right — I’m not sure small rooms can really deliver great sound compared to bigger ones. I’m currently listening to Stenheim 5s in an L-shaped, 11.5 m² room. RT60 is between 0.38 and 0.29 s from 63 Hz to 16 kHz. It feels a bit like listening through big headphones. No bass issues, extremely dynamic and enjoyable. I listen 4-5 hours every other day.I'm saying that small/mid sized rooms have had the best sounds I've heard
Every system in a large room I've visited has had some issues.
Granted, these may be the systems not the rooms, and these Stenheims were *surely* too big for the owners room...
Or so I thought...lol
Steve, other than stuff like CH Precision adjustments (is that damping factor?) choices, one area that intrigued me was sitting more nearfield than I'm used to.
You're at c3.25m from the Stenheims?
Obviously, this distance is compelled by room dimensions, and again at first glance it seemed like this was a compromise, another facet of shoehorning big spkrs into a small room.
But in the end, it all felt and sounded very natural.
Owe boy. Is this fodder for SS and boxed speakers over SET and Horns.Based on a whole series of experiences with a variety of horns in a variety of rooms, I would struggle to press the button to live with them day to day.
Audiophile Bill's horns are a very unusual outlier, they did some things that were really addictive and hard to live without.
But in my albeit limited experience, they've been the exception to the rule.
What I heard with the Stenheims has become my new reference for seamless and faultless sound, with a massive helping of sheer magic to top things off.
And more. A.whole hornets issues. Now this will become a digital vinyl thread - someone from the digital tribe will politely ask you to expand on that, with a catch that makes the thread go boom
Steve the owner says 3.25m.
And more. A.whole hornets issues.
