If a product is still breaking in, the sound can change from better to worse multiple times. Give it about 300-400hrs before doing a critical listen again.
I ended up building my own. I did try a Farad Level 2 Silver, a Ghent with Neotech 16awg solid copper and made several versions using stranded and solid copper, but my solid silver easily surpassed them.
If you stream, I think you will find putting a Farad with a quality AC & DC cable or its...
Are you using stock DC cables going from the LPS to the modem, router, and switch? I am powering all three devices with LPS's as well and upgraded to silver DC cables. The magnitude of improvement was almost as significant as adding the LPS itself.
Any upstream devices can still leak electrical noise into connected downstream devices.
One way to determine if this is happening and is by disconnecting everything except your DAC. Then add them back in individually to see the impact each connection is having to SQ.
I found the LPS improved the sound of the system the most(for streaming) when used on the farthest upstream device. Usually the modem for those in the US.
More recently I observed the filters improved the sound most when used on the most upstream device as well.
Wondering if QSA-Lanedri or any of the owners of the cables could post a video doing some A/B comparisons. I think many would find it quite helpful. A video may not be able to fully convey the quality of the QSA-Lanedri products but perhaps enough of a difference vs competing products to lend...
Did you find the improvement immediate and or did it take some break in time?
I tried the Finisar AOC but initial impression were a loss of detail and clarity compared to my Finisar FTLF1324P2BTL sfp modules with single mode corning fiber.
I recently added several Schaffner EMC/EMI filters to my Farad Super3 linear power supplies. The results are a Significant improvement in clarity and lower noise floor. The midrange is dramatically clearer. I thought my system sounded pretty detailed and transparent but adding the Schaffner...
The Ghent was more detailed, better bass, and more dynamic than the stock Farad. The DIY starquad solid copper had even better detail, blacker background, and larger sound stage.
I had a similar experience with improved SQ putting a Schaffner common/differential mode filter between the AC power cord and the Farad powering my modem. Added a significant amount of clarity, especially in the midrange. I already have a DigiBUSS, ATL DC blocker, and Bryston Isolation...
I have several Farad's powering my system so ended testing several different cables in the pursuit of higher audiophile neurosis:)
I tried the following:
Stock Farad 4x26awg stranded copper in PE with starquad
Level 2 Silver from Farad 4x(26awgx2) solid silver with starquad
Ghent Audio 2x16awg...
I found adding a high quality DC power cable to be equally profound to adding a quality AC power cord or the addition of the LPS itself. The stock DC cable from Farad is adequate but not really allowing the the Farad to live up to its fully potential.
Ghent Audio and Audio Sensibility both...
I own both. The Benchmark LA4 is an excellent preamp and if you modify it to be powered by a quality LPS, an even better one. However, the Holo Serene Level 1 preamp in its stock form sounds better. It has a blacker background, the bass is cleaner and deeper, the transparency and detail is...
I would look into the Elecaudio DC plugs. The fit is best I have found so far with barrel plugs. Much better than the Oyaide which seem to be the standard. They are also made with solid copper rather than brass so conductivity will be better which could mean better sound.
I think you may find it more beneficial than you think. I took my Plixir LPS over to a friends house. He has a Lumin T2 in his system. It is connected to a wifi extender which connects wirelessly to the wifi base unit which connects to his cable modem. We tried the LPS on the wifi extender...
I found replacing the wall wart on the Netgear cable modem had a dramatic effect on the sound of the system. I switched to a Plixir LPS. Deeper cleaner bass, blacker background, smoother mids and highs. Was an easily discernible difference compared to the wall wart. The Plixir is one of the...
Sanders Magtech Monoblocks. 3.7i's came alive with 2kwatts. Dynamic range is now incredible. Sounds like live music on some recordings. Had the Parasound A21 previously which sounded great up moderate volumes but fell flat after that. Also tried some Primaluna tube monoblocks. Sound was smooth...
