My other top room (other than CAD/Trilogy) was the Boenicke room where they were debuting the W22 speaker. I do love the Boenicke sound and these speakers were an extreme version of that: the sound completely filled the room with the speakers completely disappearing. That’s not easy to pull off...
The CAD/Trilogy/Wilson Benesch room was definitely one of the very best sounding rooms. That wonderful CAD dac and the engaging sound of Trilogy amplification is always a combination made in audio heaven. Sometimes Wilson Benesch can sound too clinical with the wrong head, but with CAD and...
Same. I had someone quietly remove the stillpoints whilst I was listening, eyes closed, and I could not hear any changes before, during or after the switch. That test was on an 025 though. But on The 030 I still heard no difference after I switched over. I would definitely urge 030 owners to...
As I mentioned on the Vitus thread, interestingly neither stillpoints nor CMS made any difference at all to my SIA030. Though I have the rack on Townshend Seismic corners (making the rack ‘float’) and I wonder if this negates the effects or need for further component feet.
Interesting to hear of these improvements. I never heard any difference using stillpoints, or CMS, or any other feet under my 025 nor the 030 so never invested. But it’s always good to hear of others finding the difference. I have my amp on a rack supported by Townshend Corners so maybe that is...
If you go into an artist you will be in the 'overview' page. This only has albums in your library. So if you play an album from this and the only library version is your ripped CD it will play the rip. If you choose the 'discography' page you see all albums which then each have a Tidal and/or...
If you don’t add the Tidal version of an album to your library Roon will not ever play it apart from on Roon radio. Below I attach the roon screen. You can see two versions of Pet Sounds in my library, both rips, one of which is the 'Primary Version' which will be the default version played if I...
When you play an album on Roon it plays your “primary version” and you decide what your primary version is. So it should play your ripped CD if that is your primary version. Only Roon Radio seems to play entirely from the attached external streaming service.
Hey @Darmstadtium how did you get the Finisar 1324 to work with your Cisco 2960? My Cisco won’t recognise the SFP. I can put one of the 1324s in at the ER end of the SM cable and it works, but I have to use a Cisco compatible SFP made by FS at the 2960 end. I have not enabled any management...
It fits the slot, it clicks in, but the Cisco switch does not work with it in place. Maybe Cisco designed their switches to operate with Cisco SFPs only, or Cisco-compatible SFPs. I bought my SFP from FS.com and they are labelled specifically as Cisco SFP so I think this must be the case.
The...
@kennyb123 please would you advise me what switch or converter you are using with your Finisar 1324? I have bought 4 of these after your and Rikipoo recommended them but unfortunately my Cisco switch will not recognise the SFP. I have a Cisco switch at one end and an EtherREGEN at the other...
So I have two ERs each connected to a Cisco switch with 2 optical ports. The Cisco does not accept the Finisar SFPs. It is a shame as finding the Finisar 24 model you recommended was not so easy.
hey @RikkiPoo what do you plug the 1324 into? I have four 1324 SFPs which I bought on your recommendation but my Cisco 2960 switch does not work with this FSP. It has optical outputs but they are not compact with Finisar sadly.
I notice that the CAD Ground Control boxes won a Stereophile award this year.

I use CAD grounding boxes and can report that the improvements are not subtle.
I have a network bridge connected directly to my very resolving CD/DAC. I have compared music connected directly to my network bridge vs via using the bridge as a Roon endpoint. No difference.
I use CAD GC1 for signal ground attached to my dac and bridge. And the CAD GC3 for passive electrical Earth grounding connected to my mains block and the metal box of the DAC. Both work exceptionally well and have a big effect.
