Please Consider Adding "tags" To New Posts and New Threads

We would like to encourage everyone who puts up a new thread or merely a post to always think of adding tag words to your post. This is very important in the great scheme of things to make our search engine perform at its peak as well as to help in our Search Engine Optimization

i miss being able to quickly read the first few words of posts in 'What's New'. it makes trying to catch up with action much more difficult and for me results in less engagement in things.

i suppose to make up for that change, we need tag words. :-(

i don't like the idea of tag words. we should just write what we write. trying to boil it down consistently to a couple words will be hard. i guess we will have to see it play out. i've not seen a forum with that approach yet.

Mike, tag words are for other reasons , not for what you are missing

I will certainly look into it for you Mike. Thanks for the pointer. Your other comment was unnecessary as we are working daily to iron out the bugs. I appreciate your concern

TBH I don't think you understand "tag words"

If you use Twitter or Instagram or FB you’d know. You don’t need to change a thing about your posts
It’s a way to list key words in your original topic/post that makes it with time a way for our search engine to provide you with the very best search. Think of it this way .....when you do s search, in essence you are entering tag words that search engines can find so much easier and quicker. So also the search bots. It’s just helps to streamline things for you the members. One of the biggest reasons I changed platforms is because the vbulletin search engine was so bad. This one is terrific and if everyone would do it when they start a new thread you are helping all of us.

Give it a go Mike in our test forum at the very bottom of the forum main page.

not obvious what you are referring to in the test forum. not trying to be a problem, but if you ask for help you need to link up some explanations.

and i do zero social media. nada. zip.

the main point Mike is not to restrict member's posts because we appreciate and learn from everyone's posts

To sum up here is a better way to think of it

If there is some thread here that you follow, if I were to ask you to tell me 5 key words in the original post and subsequent posts, in essence you are giving me 5 tag words. Well when you create a new thread immediately above is a box to provide the readers with the tag words in the thread. It is a way that all search engine works best.

and finally Mike

https://whatsbestforum.com/whats-new/posts/4745/

Rather than using What's new I suggest that you use the "new posts button" If you scroll over the thread title you get exactly what you said you were missing

Hope you understand it all now Mike. That's why I encourage everyone to try everything out so that you understand that what you want is there but just in a different place.

I never use the What's New because all I am interested in is New Posts as are you

Tags? I think an example is worth a thousand words.

hovering over the thread title (in 'new posts') only allows you to read the original post. it tells you nothing about the post just made. at least that is how it appears.

and nothing you linked gets me closer to understanding 'tag words'.

That’s a pity Mike

'new posts' is not an up to the minute update, it's delayed, so in an active thread it's not very useful as you don't know what the latest post might be.

as far as '5 key words' how does that differ from a thread title? i don't see any provision for anything other than a thread title? is that what you mean by 'tag words'?

Mike

I give up

As for not seeing everything you want for now that’s the way it is

And they are the most up to date posts Mike. You’re really trying to complicate things for yourself.

i did read about 'word tags' and sort of understand it's intended use, if not clearly how to actually do it. it's useful to add value to the google footprint of the forum, but not sure how much value it provides for members. i suppose it helps attract new members.

for my business website we pay plenty for 'keyword' optimization......which is related. not sure how much my customers think about it.

Mike, I assume that if I put up a post like I did with Tang's system, I had tags like Cessaro, Techdas, American Sound, various cart names, no bass, etc. So if you write a post relating to your analog you could mention component names in tags or if you do on tweaks something like the Tana, depending on what you want to highlight in that post
