This.

Never has been for me. I am a subjectivist that recognizes some value in measurements. But at this rate of tape speed that does impact the ability of cassettes to sound truly great. I have heard many good decks with quality metal cassettes. So it's all about measurements? If that's the case then analogue does not get a look in with digital. Forget about the speed, have you heard a good recording made on a quality deck with quality metal cassettes?
(...) By the way Wadax is actually the first company who made me think a 20 K cable purchase might actually make any sense (...)
Does this mean you would buy a 20 k cable for your Wadax but not for your loved Telefunken?
100 % , for the telefunken i can luckily get good sound without spending $$$
Why do you think you would need a 20k cable to get good sound from the Wadax?
OK I have to ask, how can you tell the difference between audiophiles and normal people?
Actually i'm glad the record store was abuzz with anyone. Heck I even love seeing LPs for sale at Walmart and Target.
I know my daughter (24) and her friends love vinyl. She actually convinced me to pull out my old collection.
A couple immediate things are noticeable:
- They look different - young and starving vs. old and rich
- They handle vinyl differently - just pull whatever music they love off the shelves without being anal about the record quality / handle a record like a record vs. baby of an emperor
“Vinyl‘s dirty little secret“ is that during this digital age of music, vinyl sales have been steadily increasing for the past 15 years, especially during COVID when people had more time to actually listen …
I am happy that vinyl sales are increasing - it means that more people are enjoying music with rituals, something that very is positive for our hobby. However it looks like a retro movement - see the tittles of the best vinyl sales of the last five years:
2017 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band The Beatles 72,000
2018 Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 Various Artists 84,000
2019 Abbey Road The Beatles 246,000
2020 Fine Line
2021 Voyage ABBA
Nope - “Old songs now represent 70 percent of the U.S. music market. Even worse: The new-music market is actually shrinking.”Very interesting info, thanks.
Does this mainly mean older people are buying their favorite music on vinyl, or young people are discovering old music on vinyl?
I would suspect the former, which would put into question a vinyl revival among the young.
Voyage ABBA is a new album. It was release about 8 months ago. First album with new material (all 10 new songs written over the last few years) in 40 years. The group is old, but the music and performances are new.
