I love shun mook footers, and while the clamp is good, I prefer the right Dalby. There are many different types of dalby clamps and one that we tried wasn't good at all. The dalby in the pic is great

The Mayer sound is very sweet and relaxing. I'll give you an update soon.
Great to hear comment on Meyer from you who doesn't has a crush on Meyer like Bonzo. The tone is leaning toward Kondo or Audio Note?

Incredible rack of gear, Howie. Has the Avid been demoted to “2nd tier” or is that simply to fit all the others in?
No, I really like the Avid but it is tonearm less at the moment. Still trying to decide on a good 9 inch arm for it. The old one was SME V and I would rather try something different now.

You should get the SME V back to mount the vdh. That combination was great even on the basic avoid model, much better than the Galder with 3 tonearms or the Garrard. The owner did say it was because of the arm cart combo more than the TT and he gets that when he rotates it to the Galder.

You had the vdh on the SME, or you mean SME and avid combo?

When you are in London I can take you to a place which has a very good London ref set up on FR 66s. Decca apparently sounds best on linear trackers and FR

Yes please!!

It is worth mentioning that I suspect that the Mayer that Howie has here wouldn’t sound especially like the current versions as quite different parts (for example Tango versus Lundahl etc). In other words, I recommend to be somewhat cautious in extrapolation. Not to say one wouldn’t prefer the original versions either!

I used to have the Avid plus SME V plus Colibri, although not my MS version.
