I have a Curious USB cable, it is about 6 inches long. I just tried a 1M Pangea and to my surprise it sounded better! Is it because of the longer length or the cable itself? I know the Pangea usb is considered an el cheap- o cable, can someone recommend something better?
Has anyone tried the WireWorld Platinum usb? Or perhaps the AudioQuest Diamond usb?
Fairly pricey but based on the improvement with the Pangea it may be worth it.
While waiting for their reply, you may also consider Blackcat Audio Digit-usb.
IMHO it is less hifi-ish and more musical than Wireworld. www.blackcatcable.com
+1 on Network Acoustics USB cable. I just received their latest iteration of the Eno series Streaming system and USB cable few days ago and it's currently running in. I have little more than 100hrs and I am liking what I am hearing so far compared to the Sablon. NA is also coming up with a reference Muon series.
WW 8 series cables has been excellent performer. They took a long time releasing the USB 8 series cable. I had the earlier version Platinum 7 a while back. Please report back your impression. Fyi, WW cables takes a long time to break-in.
Between, what DAC and music server/streamer will you be using it with ?
Ozzzy you should read over the Sablon 2020 USB thread here on What’s Best. This cable replaced my WW Platinum 7, and Audience FrontRow USB. The price was competative and Mark’s communication and support have been outstanding. Do a long break in on the WW as Devg indicated and if you decide to expand your options relook at the Sablon USB 2020 or his newest one.
Thinking about the WW P8's but now I'm on to the Network acoustics USB offerings. I have a Supra Excalibur USB that should show up on Monday. If it upgrades SQ against my mostly generic USB cables then I'll take the next "USB" step and hopefully be done with that chain. (as if I'm ever really done with anything audio related. It is after all, a mental disorder).
Please let us know after some time with your new cable and Congrats!
