Arrived today. I am still awaiting the amplifier I ordered (Boulder 3060) and pre-amplifier (TBD). They got initial positioning and setup with D'Agostino Momentum amp and Rossini.

My initial reaction to them vs. the Alexia's they replaced:

1) Richer bass but a bit tight.
2) Mid-range is also tight.

Overall really nice. Not mind-bending though. I think they'll change quite a bit over the next few weeks. They have ~3 hours total time on them!

Congratulations on your wonderful new speakers. May I ask which cables you are using? Looking forward to further updates as they break-in. Many thanks

Congratulations. I suspect you have at least 100 hours good playing time before they open up and relax somewhat. Really nice looking room and set up. Curious what else you're running...

Wow! Those speakers look great in your room. I’ll look forward to your impressions after the speakers have 100 hrs, but then again a new amp will need at least as much, and a pre-amp too. I find things aren’t really settled until 1000 hrs, when a system is fully run-in and optimized. Big caps in today’s amps and pre-amp take time. After a few hundred hours changes are small for sure, but there comes that time when you feel the systems is firing on all cylinders.

Nice looking speakers.

Any plans to add the Mezzo center channel? I had one when i had Wilson XLFs. It made a big difference in multi-channel, whether video or music.

I don't think so. I am also hopeful that I can avoid a sub. I am trying to keep the room clean. All the components sit in the wall cabinets.

I suspect you're right. It's not that they're bad right now. They just aren't great. I am also trying to be as balanced in my review as possible and avoid buyer's biasing.

pk- please tell us a little about your set-up. room size? gear? are you front-porting or rear porting?
Room is 14x18. Back wall is carved wood cabinetry. Left side is mainly glass doors and windows - not great. Right side is partially open to the kitchen. No treatments yet. However, that is going to need to change.

Boulder 3060, TBD Pre-Amp and potentially different DAC (currently Rossini) will all go inside the cabinets. I am getting custom made Grand Prix Audio stands to go inside the cabinets.

Setup of the speakers will surely change when the amps and cables arrive. So, it's too early to call it on front v rear porting.

Absolutely amazing news...I feel confident the 3060 will be categorically transformational. I have never even heard the 3060, but based on the amps I do know (incl the ones you are using) which I have heard with countless big Wilsons going back 15 years...which include an earlier Boulder 2060 (so quite a ways down the pecking order from yours) I feel confident that amps like Gryphon Mephisto, Boulder 2000/2100 series...let alone your Boulder 3060 are capable of transformation of music in a room. Power, effortlessness, dynamics both micro and macro, noise floor, nuance, balance, holding the outer edges of a soundstage completely stable, etc, etc... Set up will be critical, but Wilsons come with professional setup...just ensure they tailor it when the Boulders come in...and [perhaps] come back if you wish, after a few hundred hours.

Big Wilsons love high quality power and will play with as much as you feed them. And you will be giving yours a feast of extreme power. Look forward to reading all about it.
