Has anyone any experience with the karen Acoustics KA reference phono Mk3. The flexibility of having the EQ curves for Teldec,Columbia,Decca EMI and the RIAA is what appeals to me. I can only find one review by Roy Gregory on the web. So any first hand information would be helpful

I would not hold your breath. I understand that the world wide distribution is handled by Audiofreaks in the UK; so with no distributors in the USA or in Asia, very high price points and no exposure on the usual reviewing forums, It would apear to be a product with an uncertain future. A high risk purchase even second hand!

I would probably get a better result looking for an AMR P-77

But you will get this with FM which has good used price, also with Allnic (you need to buy the one with the V suffix, like H3000V). EMT and Allnic DHT are much higher price but the other two should work. The Thoress EQ is useless. The FM works. All these work better on mono and listening to originals on EMT, Allnic, without using the EQ is also fine, as is listening to it on those without EQ, like Mayer.

Ah..I knew that i should not have added my last comment! Tempting fate wasn't I. I think that there is another thread that discusses EQ curves. You know my views on Thoress and Mayer. My interest in the Karen was because it has the exact EQ settings I am looking for.
