The 10 guys on here don't like my cell videos and that's ok, but now there almost 20 sets of Alsyvox in the US or on their way to the US (3 being produced now). Here's something that's not a "cheap boom box" recording (again, which I personally like). You can criticize all you want. Come for a visit and listen in room. The Alsvyox may not be to your liking, but anyone that has ever heard them in my room or one of our Alsyvox customer's rooms has never said they don't sound good in a general sense.
BTW, you don't have to come to NY. In the next two months there will be SEVEN locations in the US at the upcoming Rhapsody Listening Rooms, which all will have Alsyvox speakers available for demonstration. All in well set up rooms. Plus we have another 5-10 customers across the US that will host visits upon special request.
Ron, you can visit the RLR in Palm Desert or in another 2 months Bob in Portland's RLR and hear for yourself. Jerry in Palm Desert has Tintoretto X and Bob West(BobVin here) has Botticelli X in transit at this time.
I believe Bob has made the same YouTube track recordings of Bayz and Diesis. And Alsyvox sounds best by far. And I do not believe all these 3 speakers are boom box.
I also heard the Alsyvox Botticelli speakers (without external crossover) in Melbourne a few months ago. When I initially heard them they were set up with a lower end EMM Labs streamer / DAC and a Ypsilon integrated amplifier. While they sounded good, they sounded much better and in fact very good the following day when the dealer moved them to Ypsilon monblock amps, Ypsilon DAC and a Taiko streamer. The bass was the best I have heard from a speaker like this, and I really felt the speakers conveyed a sense of emotion and had excellent dynamics on the music that we played.
I think it’s not fair to compare two speakers in different environments using different electronics, cables etc. There are just way too many variables…while you may get a sense of a speaker, when you say you prefer one over another, it is the entire system that you prefer, not necessarily the speaker in isolation.
They certainly are not cheap speakers, but from what I heard over several hours they are very good speakers.
Al, you are a <4 hour drive. Come down and listen to the Alsyvox even with this recording and tell me it's sounds like a cheap boom box in room.
Btw, Al, to you it's a lousy recording. I grew up loving this song and so did many other people. It sounded just like this in the 1970, when I was 18 and I had and have an emotional connection with the song. I liked what it sounded like then and what it sounds like now. I even like what it sounds like on the video. We are all different. You can call what I like a cheap boom box, I would respectfully not degenerate what another person likes, but we are all different in that respect as well.
I did not claim that the Alsyvox sounds like a cheap boom box. The sound in the video does to me. Big difference.
If the speaker is really that good, it is obvious that the video does not nearly capture the sound as it should.
I would be interested to hear the speaker in person, thanks for the invite. I don't expect it to sound like a cheap boom box.
Happy 4th of July as well!
PS: As you will have noticed, I tend to be brutal and merciless when it comes to the sound of system videos -- in my view for a good reason. Videos usually don't do justice to systems. Even some of the best ones that I know, those of Peter A., still do not.
Also this video has obvious problems to my ears. In the Scheherazade excerpt beginning at around 3:10 the solo violin sounds way too bright, silvery and brittle, as do the massed orchestral strings later on. The woodwinds sound good.
BTW, I listen to videos on my computer over headphones. Many direct recordings (not music recorded with cell phones from systems playing it) on YouTube can sound quite decent over this set-up, even though of course nothing sounds like uncompressed digital on a good system.

Al, would love for you and any of the other guys up north to come down for a visit. I am moving to Brooklyn on July 15th, then need a month or two to "settle in", probably more like six months, but I will be ready to host guests by September. I will let you know and would enjoy it if you would make the trip.
Regarding the video, I get it, it's a crazy pop song from 1970. BUT there is a LOT going on in this track and it does not fall apart as was suggested in an earlier post about the Alsyvox being weak speakers and can only play a flute or single instrument.
Like I said to me and actually many others, they know what that track sounded like in 1970 and this video brings it back for us. Sorry, I and many others like, it but respect that you don't. All of this is personal preference.
I am much more of a listener of music that I love vs. what things sound like. I play this video and I love it. I know I'm not the only one as there were no thumbs down on YT with the video, only thumbs up. Also several people commented how they loved the song and even loved the video of it.

Thing is you have never commented on a video positively. So why comment, especially be the first to comment? The regulars know this but others think you are discerning between the videos. Since I don't like hifi show rooms should I go on every show report thread and say bad, bad, bad? Show report is a show report. Video report is a video report. Pointless to keep saying real in room experience sounds better

I agree on the violin. I only was referring to the first track. Someone asked me to record those three tracks and they actually came from Spotify, not even Qobuz. I don't judge systems via videos, I do them for fun, nothing more.

Ok, for the purposes of demonstrating this the video does its job. Perhaps an accompanying comment to that effect would have helped the video presentation.

PLEASE, don't anyone reading this thread think that I was trying to represent good audiohphile sound with the "Green Eyed Lady" video. I was just reacting to the comment that said Alsyvox was weak speaker when pushed beyond a single instrument. Imho this track is full balls to to walls room filling sound with crazy dynamics, especially for a 1970 pop video. I know it's bright etc, but the recording cell phone drops off below 150Hz. With the video you are not hearing the full room bass that drives the song.
It's SO EASY to pick this video apart, I could do that as well, but it was to illustrate that the Alsyvox were capable beyond a single instrument playing. That is not the case with Alsyvox, actually quite the contrary.
I won't delete the video, because I personally like it
It is very easy to pick apart system videos and even declare that such videos all suck. I happen to think that these videos can be very revealing, ironically when listening for resolution. Assuming most are made with similar iPhones, why is it that when comparing certain recordings like Scheherazade, we can hear such dramatic differences in resolution or sheer information with for example string texture, hollowness of certain drums, wood tone, dynamic nuance, hall ambiance and bass quality? These all come through on videos.
The really challenging videos are of orchestra, string quartets, and choral music. These IMO are the acid test videos for systems and I understand why people don’t post them.
I heard what I think were predecessors of these Alsyvox speakers back in 2012. I think they were called Leonardo or something. They were excellent driven by 14 tube watts. I asked to play Four Seasons, Winter. I wish I had a system video of that one: Neville Mariner on Argo.
In the room it is NOT bright. But on the Samsung phone, WITH BASS ROLLED OFF at 150HZ sure it sounds bright. It sounds amazing to me and several others who have heard it in the room.
So, since you have heard both Peter's video and in room, please let us know if the video is representative of in room. on his thread, not here.
Don't expect the video to sound better than in room, but the attributes that you hear on video, the pluses and minuses, are they in the same direction as in room (of course with less nuance) or completely different
