What's next for the Wilson Yvette?

I was reading the Sabrina X review in the latest issue of TAS.

Interestingly, the reviewer questioned the validity of the Yvette in Wilson's current lineup.

Given that the Sabrina X is now a reality.

Does Wilson plan on continuing with the Yvette as a Series X?

Or, will it be discontinued from the lineup?

I think we are approaching the 5-year lifecycle on this speaker and was just curious.

Perhaps @metaphacts can chime in?

Thank you

thank you mdp632, great question!

last year i heard that wilson is not sure about the future of the yvette.
i do hope for a no compromise yvetteV with all the new goodies such as V -material, big mid-driver, new tweeter....potentially a world class end game speaker that our wifes do accept in the living room.

i am a very happy sabrinaX owner. all i do wish is deeper bass and some more scale.
imho, a very good way to replace the yvette would be a bigger sabrina--------sabrinaV xl--------!!!

You‘re welcome.

Actually I think that is a possibility but, not until we see Alexia V and Sasha DAW Series V.

Then perhaps Wilson will need Yvette series X or a speaker that sits between the Sabrina X and Sasha DAW V.

The latter when updated, I‘m assuming will increase the price of a new Sasha V.

Leaving about a 20K gap between the Sabrina X and future Sasha V.

Again all my speculation, but is where a Yvette Series X would come into play.

Alexia v2 is at end of the 5 yr cycle next year, so the idea of Alexia V is an interesting one. Before I pulled the trigger to become a RLR (see my signature) I was jonesing for new speakers and the idea of new version of Alexia had my interest.

I agree that the Yvette seems to currently not have a place. One of the big differences between it and the Sabrina was the Yvette was made of X material. Well, now the Sabria is imbued with X. So it seems that the Yvette offers a 10" woofer instead of an 8" woofer. Willson could add a bunch of bells and whistles to the Yvette (V-material, new tweeter, feet, etc) with the idea of splitting the price difference between the 18.5K SabrinaX and the $40K DAW. Which would mean only about a $5k bump in price for all of the added material and design cost. Not sure that makes sense.

In reality, the market will determine the fate of the Yvette. If it is still selling well then keep it. Free money at this point as all of the design and tooling cost is already sunk.

yvetteV, sashaV, alexiaV :) what a mouthwatering line up ahead of us :)

imagine a yvetteV that sounds better than the current sasha daw.
my wife would accept a yvetteV and she does clearly refuse the sasha.

i heard the current yvette and do say the sabrinaX sounds better. much more cohesive, coherent, balanced, refined.
however, the 10inch woofer vs the 8inch and the volume of the cabinet does make a very big difference as well.

hey, i just studied your system (holy shit, very cool) and your avatar and find out you did put the nation of every producer there. true?

Yes. My avatar is made up of the flags of the countries my system comes from

Now that the SashaV is out I am wondering if we will see a YvetteV. That speaker is really out of date. It could use an update with the latest technology. Or in a couple of years will we see a SabrinaV.

Just ordered a pair of Yvette’s and if my recent stock picks are any indication, the new model will be released any day and decrease the value of the current model. Either way I’m SUPER excited as I’ve been lovingly using Eggleston speakers off and on for the past 20+ years. The Wilsons should provide a nice, alternative sound

Awesome. I am sure you will enjoy the Yvette. Cetrainly a direction change from the Egglestons.

There is now a huge price gap between the SabrinaX and the Sasha V that is begging to be filled by an updated Yvette or something new.

There’s a pending announcement on their website coming tomorrow. If my recent luck with timing is any indication, it will be the new Yvette!

Something to consider. Suppose Wilson releases a new speaker, the speakers you loved and bought sound every bit as good as the day you bought them.

Absolutely! Eggleston released many new models over those 20+ years but never thought about changing, and planning to keep the Yvette’s just as long so not too concerned about whatever update or change they make. Perhaps once I recover from the initial expense I’ll have the WAAD tweak to look forward to.
