Steve,
Thanks for the excellent photos - for those living 6000 miles away from Denver it is great to feel the USA high-end activity.
Nice to know you enjoyed the DD6000 - did you listen to the Atma-sphere system?

Interesting read from John Atkinson on the PF soon to be release, although 106 dB is tame. For about 3 hours last Saturday I demo'ed the same Wisdom speakers that Amir has in his showroom and we were hitting peaks of 138 dB without breaking a sweat. One day I hope to visit your showroom, Amir. I have the WYWH Immersion box on pre-order.

If Nola was there I missed it

As for the Acapella and JBL Everest I thought they produced some of the best sounds at the show much the same impression I had when I heard them at the Cali Audio Show in July

There was one room (photo is shown) with a pair of 1949 Western Ellectric horns that looked like an old makeshift speaker. The sound was to die for and I remember mep and I looked at each other in disbelief because it was so good. The gentleman doing the demo was Asian and told us that these older speakers have become revered and much sought after with one recently selling for $180K.

We had to get up and feel the white material around the drivers as it looked like styrofoam (but obviously wasn't)

NOLA was there :( I saw them and then forgot to go to the room on sunday.

Ron, all 3 are available as an Immersion Box Kit on Nov8. How come you just got WYWH and not the Wall and DSOM as well (albeit ~$350 for all 3 is really steep)

Ron,

Just be aware, we have been hearing horror stories about the scratched discs and the way they are packaged for the DSOTM Immersion box. No one knows if the packaing of the WYWH Immersion box is packaged the same way.

Myles,

That is too bad. I have used Dahlquist, Alon and Nola speakers for some time and in fact the Nolas are being used in my HT surrounds and my Center channel and I have Dahlquist DQ-6 (made after Carl left Dahlquist and started Alon) for the rear channels. I have never met Carl, but I understand he is really a pleasure to deal with. I have spoken with him on the phone on more than 1 occasion though.

Great pics Steve. Thank You.
I see the new SF Guarneri Evolutions were present. Did anyone have a chance to listen to that room? I see they were demo'ing with Prima Luna ( NOT what I think would have been a good match, but:confused:)
I like the stands that Jonathan Tinn is using for his Dart gear in your photo, what are they called....."invisistands":D

DaveyF - I knew they will show- up with the Evolutions and cowardly decided to stay away from them! :)

Thank you Steve for the gorgeous pictures and giving those who couldn't be there a little taste of RMAF. A second thank you for posting some pics of the Totem Acoustics room. At TAVES in Toronto Vince was pairing his Element Fire with Bryston and Arcam, but I notice he was using some tubes at RMAF. Do you (or anyone else) remember which company that tube amp was from.

Who says I only ordered WYWH?:)

Rich, I've also heard/read the same story.

Steve, The Tape Project tapes run around the same price for just one album!

I thought the TACT/The Beat/Allnic/Wilson Sasha's sound bright and shrill and totally unenjoyable. When they turned up the volume the bass doubled badly and the soundstage shrunk dramatically. I rechecked the room on Sunday to see if it had improved (as many had); no such luck. Nick Doshi's room was FAR superior.

Before reading this topic no one I spoke with (or have read posted on-line) preferred the Aesthetix/Vandersteen room to the ARC/Vandersteen room. In fact some put the Aesthetix/Vandersteen room in their "worst of show" contenders. Even Richard Vandersteen (on Saturday at least) wasn't happy with the sound in the Aesthetix room when I asked him what was going on there, because the ARC/Vandersteen room was very very good.

Salk/AVA was unlistenable on Friday, better on Sunday, but still in no way competitive with similarly priced components.

Sanders is unbelievably good.

I heard the KEF Blade on Friday and spoke briefly with Richard Schramm. He decided he couldn't get the speakers to sound right in that room and apparently decided he didn't have time to try to fix it. The Reference's sounded better, but didn't impress me as much as they apparently did Steve W.

The Analysis Omega's are completely outclassed by the Sanders at half the price or less.

The Vivid room was very nice indeed.

The Nola Baby Grand Reference Series II, with ARC electronics and CD player, were nice. Unfortunately, I didn't feel the room was set up very well, and I would guess that those speakers could sound very very good if better set-up had been done. Even so, they were clearly best of show contenders (along wth ARC/Vandersteen, TAD - but not the VTL/TAD room, Sonicweld in the Positive Feedback hospitality room, etc)

For what the ATC/Pink Floyd demo room equipment and set-up cost, I was notably underwhelmed by the sound.

Wonderful pictures Steve. For those that couldn't make it, your pictures ease the pain significantly, thanks!

BTW what did you think of the SMC VRE preamp? Sorry if you posted this already, your thoughts on this please.

I guess it 's to whom you talk. I loved both rooms and am a strong ARC supporter but both mep and I gave the edge to the other room. Interesting how one man's passion is another man's poison :)

I heard it in Gary's room and was very impressed. If there were a shortcoming I noticed introduction of noise into the system whenever the remote control was used. This perhaps could have been related to the other similar problem Gary had but was quickly solved by Steve McCormick
