Best post of the year!!!

Again, I'm not dismissing it's seriousness just see the fear of and reaction to worse than the virus itself. There are two ways to look at this, number of deaths or number of recoveries. I'm not at peace at home but not because of fear of the virus but fear of what we have to deal with if we burrow in too deep and too long.
There is actual good news too.

Looks like you got it licked in HK with very few casualties, do you believe the statistics? Over the hump there or you're worried that it hasn't started yet?i better stay out of this thread or I'll get it shut down again!
Here, my friends, is medical news you can use...
Why is this so deadly to elderly patients:
We had a very good record here until people started returning from Europe and North America and brought a doubling of our numbers although if you compare similar cities in terms of density and population we still have very few cases. Luckily testing is easily available and we have been all masked up and staying away from each other for months already considering our proximity to China. Fingers crossed. Hope you guys dont have to weather the storm for too long.Looks like you got it licked in HK with very few casualties, do you believe the statistics? Yes, but at least we can do our small part in taking social distancing seriously. We're all in this together, and we should act like it.
Would be great if media were reporting on the science and advancements vs the political angle/blame/hysteria. High anxiety not good for anyone, does not help the immune system.
There are other perspectives close to mine on what is going on, this isn’t intended to be political just a POV.

I love Ann Coulter. She has the balls to go on Bill Maher's show in front of a very liberal audience and defend her positions. She's also one of the few that is willing to sit on the panel as well.

Bob,
The clip you showed is interesting but not surprisingly, there's much more to this issue which is both complex and well known to top renal specialists. A more precise but less sensational description of the issues are here:

The main problem is that it's always difficult to understand co-morbidities without an appropriate clinical trial, so it may be misleading at this point to suggest that discontinuing ARBs in favor or ACE inhibitors is wise. In fact, there is some suggestion that ACE inhibitors can also upregulate ACE2 and furthermore, this may be blunted by the use of simultaneous ARBs! So what to do? Bottom line- we just don't have the information we'd like to have. What is clear is that no matter what you taking for your hypertension, reducing salt intake can only be viewed as helpful. But as far as what anti-hypertensive meds may pre-dispose you to COVID-19, I'll look forward to better data for guidance.

There appear to be some possible links regarding the use of certain blood pressure medications and the effects of Covid-19 virus. The virus attaches to and enters the cell via certain receptors on the cell, and those receptors are often 2-5 times more prevalent in patients taking a particular class of hypertension drugs. Can you sum up the video? My life has had a rash of fucking long winded YouTube videos lately... and I don't want my whole day to be watching them.
100% Al, this is clearly the way we become among those helping to save lives. The education here has started and awareness campaigns are starting to work.Yes, but at least we can do our small part in taking social distancing seriously. We're all in this together, and we should act like it.
It’s hard to discuss without it gettingGG: A contrarian view: “The most rapid form of self-inflicted wealth destruction and restriction of economic liberty we have ever witnessed in a free society... We are destroying our economy and at the same time causing intense psychological distress.”
These writers question whether the cost of the lockdown strategy is worse than the virus, and lament that unelected public health officials “who failed in their duty to protect us from the virus” are now in charge of “solving” the problem.

We are not denying that there is great merit to social distancing. However, the mandatory aspects of this grand social experiment must be immediately abolished across the world.

As is stated in the video (yes, a bit long and tedious) this is preliminary theorizing based on evidence and statistics but robust studies have not been done. Any changes to your medications should ONLY come as a result of discussion with your own health professional.
