Best wishes you too Barry.
How does the evolution of your great system proceed?
Thanks Paolo
The upgrade to a 3 box Scarlatt plus Apollo dual AES cablesi has been a great move and a badly needed major service of my Rock V turntable too.
Just breaking from a record cleaning session with a recently acquired Audiodesk. Very effective but time consuming.
Listening to Radio 3 FM while doing it with the YG Kipod Signature passives sans the Ultra 5s as you may have seen on the tweaks thread.
Thought about you the weekend before last while at the HFN show at Windsor. Heard the new Avalon Precision Reference floorstanders. A grey plastic mottled cabinet rather than the traditional wooden cabinet, but were sounding good.
Best wishes
Barry

Congratulations - solid sate amplifiers coming from Switzerland are becoming popular in WBF! This Soulution 710 is the same amplifier as tested by Stereophile in 2011, or did they upgrade it meanwhile? https://www.stereophile.com/content/soulution-710-power-amplifier-measurements
Thank's, yes indeed, Soulution 710 has impressed me compared to Spectral.
The 710 evolved to 711, but I had the opportunity to test both on my system and I found the 710 more refined and natural but with a bit less dynamic compared to 711. I preferred the refinement of 710.

I have recently been highly impressed by their 720 pre. Am sure the newer stuff is much better. I am planning to explore more Soulution now. Coincidentally that pre was also in an Avalon system

Great upgrade Barry,
I bet you've found great benefit by the improvements.
Concerning Avalon, I still not had the opportunity to heard the new line. The medium/High size of Avalon's production is not "easy to use" in term of setup. A little move by side or forward, dramatically change the soundstage.
I spent years to find a solution (at least, I hope I have found it :().

I prefer a direct coupling with my TotalDac D1 six. BTW, this coupling seems to be perfect.
Soulution blown away my Spectral in every parameter!! More solid bass and middle bass, better and refined middle high frequencies.
Avalon's image is deeply stable.
When volume increase there is not a merge of layers as, sometimes, I had with Spectral.

few new pictures after the system evolution (Soulution amp and Kuro Cables).

Dear Paolo,

Awesome looking home. Love your dining section. Is that Molteni dining cabinet.

I see you are using the MiT speaker cables. The differences between the MIT and the Kuro speaker cables are 1) In the mids, the MiT is more warm. The vocal is actually more pleasing and more object-like making great presence in the room. More meat 2) Kuro has more resolution and transparency. The kind of see through darkness transparency.. never black. Hard to do without after hearing it. The depth the space the air between instruments seperate it from MIT. 3) Inner details, nuances, highend extension, spatial cues, for these aspects the Kuro is better. Keep in mind my system is all tube. A/Bing the two made me feel the MIT sounded more engineered. I could live with the MIT speaker cable if I just listen to vocal jazz. But that Bonzo guy brought me to listening classical and I am getting drawn into it. So the Kuro is what I chose. I dont know how the Kuro will sound with Soulution. But surely the staging will be evenbetter. Depth will definitely be better. Music will become more scenenic more sense of landscape. Not that you asked but I write to you any way.

Ciao,
Tang

Great Tang!!! Thank you.
If you refer to the one on which you see my system, this is a Bernini.
The one you see far, white, is "Piroscafo" di Aldo Rossi, yes, it is a Molteni's production.
You report is highly appreciated, even if, as you say, I had not yet had time to ask you :D

We got similar things with the pre. Amazing as you turn up the volume, so low distortion/noise floor

The new model is certainly more room friendly than its larger predecessors and details are up on the Avalon site.
The grey finish didn't look as good as their normal wooden ones but perfectly acceptable and a significant price saving I am sure.
On first acquaintance it sounded good.
Another upcoming contender is the Vimberg (Tidal) Mino which I haven't heard yet but its big brother the Tondo was impressive at Munich this year. The latter is big though.

Barry, the new Avalon's were in fact a grey dyed Bird's Eye Maple veneer, probably Italian supplier Tabu, and not inexpensive, or plastic!

Best Regards,
Paul

Thanks for your reply Paolo.
So this new solution is the best sinergy with your Eidolon Diamond so far?
Did you ever tried, at one point in the past, a solution with Jeff Rowland electronics and Cardas cables?
Appreciated your comments.
Thanks again,
Riccardo

you are very welcome Riccardo,
I never tried Rowland's amplifiers on my system, neither Cardas cables, but I had the opportunity to listen the 8T on similar system (not with Totaldac) and I loved what I was listening to.
Soulution in my opinion is the best compromise between speed and refinement I have ever listened to.

I keep surprising myself every time I change (by mistake or not) the distance between the loudspeakers and the Wing diffuser. A small change in distance produces non-negligible effects (both, positive or negative).
