The Bias needs to matching-up/adjust only if the 911 Mk3 will be used in mono or bi-amping configuration. These amps have state of the art construction and built like a German Tank. Lifetime gears.

I was asking because I measured the left side t 140 degrees and the right at 115 degrees F. Is this normal?

Looking at the pictures the amplifier seems symmetrical - so I would risk to say no, it is not normal and it needs adjustment.

It is a symmetrical amp. Maybe your unit has been previously used in monos with no bias matching up. Based on your info, as well as, one side is warmer I think It will need to be adjusted in bias. I suggest to send an email to the Burmester Customer Service: mail@burmester.de

Thanks everyone, I talked to the burmester USA rep, and they told me that a 20% difference is ok, but will eventually need a bias Tuning. They also told me that this is necessary between every 5-10 years depending on the area and load the amp is under. We discussed that the next time the tech is in my area for servicing that they would schedule me in for a bias tuning.

Hi,
Anybody using 911Mk3 with Wilson Benesch speakers?
Does anyone know if 911Mk5 (skip 4) is coming up the horizon?
077+PSU vs 808Mk5... Which has a more modern sound like CH precision?
Thanks

Hi everyone,
I am a newbie in this forum but not so in the high-end hobby:) Since 6 yrs, I am the proud and happy owner of a Burmester 911 Mk3. When I came across this thread, although it is silent for a while,I decided to chime in because I had the very same experience with Drabbish. One channel, strangely enough the same left channel as in Drabbish's case, is overheating. To put it into numbers, left is around 59 C (138 F) and right is 42 C (108 F), power on, with or without music, ambient room temp 28-29 C. I noticed this about two weeks ago and was delving into the owner's manual and the Burm website like crazy, which yield basic, and so little information. Not so much further with the dealer in Turkey either. My beloved 911 sits powered off since about a week, because I am concerned.
Drabbish, what followed with your case, did you have your 911 bias tuned? If you did, what was the procedure like ? Did you continue using it until the service arrived? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated. I am desperately hoping that soon I will return to my listening chair to enjoy wonderful hours of music listening.
Thanks

Nice set up. I think it is to do with bias current adjustment. You will need a technician to adjust the bias to the reference specs. I would suggest you call Burmester directly and they will help you out if your dealer isn’t cooperative.

Thank you very much sujay. I sent an e-mail to Burmester, no reply yet.
Anybody else with similar experience?

I recently got a 911 Mk3 and it sounds fantastic when driving my Rockport Atria2 speakers.

Since I'm not a technical guy, I wonder if someone can explain the construction. When I took the top cover off, I noticed that there is a foam block attached to the inside. The foam block seems to be pressed against the 12 blue capacitors (?). Is this for dampening purposes?

What's the purpose of the 3 clear plastic shields around the power supply, and the L & R boards?

Hi, while I’m not a techie either, what I understand is that the foam is indeed used for damping the caps. The rest I won’t be able to help you with. As an aside, I have heard another identical set up with the 911 stereo driving the Altria’s and they sounded amazing

I wish that other brands would pay more attention to vibration control. I use the Arya RevOpod footers with the 911 and find them really beneficial. I also notice that the 911 chassis is "open" with narrow slits (2-3mm) at each corner. This may help the 911 stay cool even when playing loudly.
