6 Moons Review of the Giya G4

There is a review up on 6 Moons written by Srajan Ebaen, the editor.

"The G4, in the exact off-white of the review loaner, would be the final desert island speaker I'd personally aspire to. It's gorgeous to look at. It's built to high standards despite a form factor that suggests quite the manufacturing nightmare. It's small per se and very small for its bandwidth and SPL stability. It's studded with can't-get-elsewhere drivers purpose designed to work together. This avoids the usual transducer mash-up sourced from various suppliers. Its design DNA traces back to B&W's Nautilus project for well-proven maturity. The crowning glory of course is the sound. It subtracts all of this impressive tech from the ears to be unusually bereft of reminders of artifice or limitation."

His different writing style does not obscure his ability to explain the importance of our technologies. He gave the Giya G4 a Blue Moon award.
This review is well worth a good read.

I've always enjoyed his reviews, but he's definitely from the "Why use 1000 words when 4000 will suffice" school of writing.

And perhaps someone can tell him that a too long line of text with thirty words (166 characters, 195 including spaces in one line) is tiresome and almost impossible to read. I gave up after a few lines.

Hey Micro,

You think that's long? It is kinda. But it's not Salvoj Žižek long or Don DeLillo long. Read DeLillo's Zero K over the summer and... if I select a page at random...Page 288... first sentence is 84 words. Sound bites it ain't but then it's nice to not be spoon fed every now and then.

853 guy,

I am not addressing long sentences, just the line length.

Ah, understood. I actually appreciate Srajan's take on things, so I cut him some slack.

BTW, Zero K is alright, but not an Underworld.

Congrats Phillip. I did my speed reading and got through it long enough to steal his music selections. :)

Did you decide if you will be showing them at AXPONA yet?

I had to laugh at your comment, very funny and very true. I think some reviewers have no concept of keeping it remotely concise and to the point...

We plan on showing the Giya Spirit at AXPONA. The Giya G4 I think is a little too small for the US Market, especially when the Giya G3 is so close $ wise.
warm regards

Philip

imagine that you have good life like that author. and imagine that there are clear winners out there, all time winners. what would you do? write one article and pronounce this is the all time winner. makes no sense searching for more. but then...the good life would stop. thus, you have to invent things. you have to somehow convince public that 39Hz speaker is worth BMW. otherwise, as I said, you good life will soon be over. ANY GIYA that is not G1 is not worth paying any attention. it's all hype. there is no You are right there moment. this used to be called "laid back" sound. Nobody wants laid back read 'I am just kidding' sound. And for THAT kind of money? No waay

I have no regrets shelling out for my G3's, they ARE my desert island speakers. Better than I ever could have imagined, nothing laid back about them, even with a Koetsu cart mounted. With a DV xv-1t, I fear damage to rooms structures. BTW I drive a 12 yo BMW, I still like the steering better.
