I am seriously considering buying a pair of Wilson Watt Puppy 5.1, my first foray into high end speakers. Apologies in advance for a lot of questions to come...
Initially, I want to try to power them from my existing headphone amp. I realise this isn't the best approach, but I'm just trying to use my existing system as much as possible until such time as I upgrade. Anyway this is a quite powerful Wells Audio headphone amp rated at 50W into 8 ohms (powerful by headphone standards at least). I don't know the power into 4 ohms or 2 ohms but I'm guessing (hoping) it will still be adequate? Is this possible to do with reasonable results? Also, my headphone amp-outs are either RCA or XLR. Can I buy speaker cables with say RCA on one end for example, and the right connectors for the Wilsons on the other? Is RCA or XLR-out better? What connectors to the speakers do I need? Is there a particular brand of speaker cable that pairs well with Wilson Watt Puppy 5.1?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give to all these questions.
