The most expensive speaker at CES 2015? $500,000

Here is a list of the gear

View attachment 18208

$1.0M system...and they put $160,000 to cables, $130,000 to TT and digital source...

...and $840 bucks towards isolation (with 8 x 15" subwoofers in the room) and $0 towards power conditioning (with 6 channels of world-class amplification)...

How many of these do you think they will sell? Anyone think they will sell 25? 50? 100? 200? And how many folks will become millionaires by winning the lottery in your state or country in the next year?

So why do so many intelligent folks get so crazy about high prices in high end audio?

Of course, but I'm sure they will be happy to tell folks at the show

I wonder why they are mating with Kubala Sosna, as the system is already super smooth...

Less than a day's work for the top Hedgies, and probably less than a week for the 2nd tier....

1000 SP 500 mini contracts for a 10,5 point ride on the sp will do the job , could be a half an hour thing for the right trader (0,5 points for the broker ),you do need the margin though, that will get you the speakers

The speaker is being shown with the same electronics as my room, the Lamm Signature series. The room has over $1M of gear

Digital actives with 6 Lamm ML3? The active proponents will feel uncomfortable thinking about amplifiers with such low damping ... ;)

Anyway, when I also read that the crossovers use 384kHz, 32 bits I think that this time a revolution can be starting.

Just to stir the pot a little bit..

It bears to remind everyone this thing has DIGITAL crossovers ...

That is the first 1/2 mill speaker that excites me....Sorry Ultimate 3.

Well, the U3 is more than $500K, and with a couple of the Q18subs, closer to $700K. It would be quite a speaker system to hear, especially in as large a room as the one pictured. The U3 certainly excites a lot of other people.

Oh no , i refuse :p,..... well actually that also means no more tube hiss /transformer hum in the system :D( if you go all digital off course not with tubes anywhere ), just fooling around on the computer screen , chance the FR whenever you want with a digital X over , not enough bass in the movie , no problemo , a song which is recorded to hot on top just change the high freq
Like the new top of the line Kharma. Analog is a relic of the past.

I wonder why there are no digital inputs. The crossover is digital anyway.

Yes, I referred to it in a previous post. 384kHz, 32 bits crossovers as I read elsewhere, the equivalent of analog according to our resident WBF expert. As foreseen, digital people would learn. A pity it would take so long and still costs so much money. Just stirring ... ;)
