Needed to get out of the tubes are God thread...

Snow days are not what they used to be. VPN makes it too easy to keep working through the most amazing storms. And this is that. I'm in Charlotte NC, where we get a respectable accumulation of snow (which generally melts off in 48 hours or less) once every few years. An inch can close the schools. It started snowing yesterday morning. It snowed all day, all night, all day today. It took a break for about an hour and started up again. All of that didn't accumulate as much as you'd think through, because much of that time the air temp was above freezing and the ground temp even higher. But eventually, it drove down below 32 (last night) and stayed there. Having grown up in Illinois, I know what this looks like, but here, it's just freakish. And absolutely gorgeous.

Must be beautiful Tim :)

I thought it was the tubes are evil thread that you wanted to get out of :p

Analog snow looks better than digital snow. :)

Yo I have a home in Youngsville NC. My mother lives in my home there and they have snow again. I am NYC and this is just a mess with the ice and more snow.
Tubes are good as long as they are not tuby . But I do prefer the SS type .

Tim's snow storm is our ice storm. I live halfway between Atlanta and Augusta and we are frozen shut. It's all like a big sheet of ice and is still "icing". Never could leave the house and the dogs are too confused to poop :p

We had about 4 inches of snow and it was indeed very beautiful. Today it is sunny and 51 degrees. Feels like summer all of a sudden. :D

And with that, we hate you all :D Over to you Chicago

Today would have been the first day since January 1 that we exceeded 15 degrees and it didn't snow but......it just started snowing so I guess that highlight is out. We are either single digit temps or if it gets above 10 we have snow. Moved here from Boston in January 1981, worst winter we've had and there's not a close second.

It's been the endless summer in Northern California. We finally had a day of light rain. Sunny 63 today.

I can't wait for spring! Today was the first day in 23 days that we didn't have temperatures (high or low) below zero. Last weekend I shoveled off the 2'+ of snow that has been collecting on my roof since early November. The poor deer are having a heck of a time navigating though the belly deep snow. After last year's unusually long spring with ice staying on our lakes until the middle of May, and this year's ultra cold weather with $5-6/gal propane prices, I'm thinking it might be time to move to someplace warmer. :)

Waiting for this storm to arrive...

Your storm is on its way here. Temp at the moment is 10 degrees with about 1 foot expected. Feb is always a heavy snow month. If I was artistic I would make a Cupid instead of a snowman.

The Charlotte region is going to get the third and final wave of this winter storm today. Buildings are collapsing and the entire region is nothing but a thick ice blanket. The roads are all translucent. Be safe today, members around the ice belt.

Friend who lives in Raleigh North Carolina sent me this picture this morning:

The entire area is like that Amir. We have been stuck at home since about 12:00 yesterday, thankfully with power. The roads have about an inch of solid ice on them and since my last post, we have received more than an inch of snow on top of that. People down here [at least where I live] have been heading the warnings and they are staying put. Most of the cars on the roadways now are ones that were abandoned yesterday.

Heck on a very quick glance I thought it was a report from Syria!!!!

Here's a shot from the Outer Banks....
