Ok guys, this story should interest you...
About two months ago, a professional photographer comes to my office. He's a guy in his early seventies...maybe late sixties, and he's there to take some head shots of some of my acquaintances. We start to talk and he tells me his name; it doesn't ring a bell. Then he says to me do I remember who Captain Pike was in Star Trek! ( The original Captain Pike). I say I do and then it dawns on me who this guy is....his name is Sean Kenney. He and I talk for awhile, SUPER nice guy. Sean tells me that after the Korean war, he was in LA and happened to be looking for a job. He had some living money form the GI bill and was just hanging around when someone came up to him and suggested he try an audition at a local studio. So, he heads over to the studio and they hire him for this small part in a show he had never heard of and that they told him wasn't likely to be long running! Well the rest is history!. Sean didn't get paid much for his role as I think he told me that he didn't have to speak. He was written out after the wheel chair episode ( which he told at the time was controversial due to the fact that many thought a wheel chair wasn't futuristic). Went on to play a few small parts ( including one in another Star Trek episode as a crew member). He apparently hung around Hollywood for a few more years, without much success, and then got into his other true love....photography.
Today, he occasionally appears at the Star Trek conventions in his wheel chair, (which is under a MAJOR insurance policy) and likes meeting with fans.....SUPER NICE GUY.
