* Did you watch a film last night (on Blu or DVD), and what was it? *

* Directed by Stanley Kubrick (1956).

An all time fave -- hysterical and brilliant.

Am a huge Altman fan too -- haven't seen that for a long time though. Catch 'The Long Goodbye' if you haven't.

Hi Bob,

Nice to see someone here commenting. :b

And thanx for the suggestion regarding 'The Long Goodbye'. :b ...I'll have to revisit it.

* I thought before about doing extensive reviews from my own 'Movie Watching' experiences.
But I am much more interested on INTERACTIVITY; talking with others who also have/had similar viewing experiences.
Because after all, that's what forums are all about; DISCUSSIONS, EXCHANGES, SHARING EXPERIENCES between several people. :b ...REACHING on a similar level of calibration ...
...And the more encouragement, the more incentives, the more motivation, the more inspiration, ... the BETTER! :b

Well Northstar I would comment but most of my recent film watching would classify me as a neanderthal when compared to you guys :)
Nothing intellectual about films I have recently been watching, or even regarding quality/artistic merit, so tricky to add comments.
Cheers

See, that's the thing; people are even shy to comment on inferior material from Hollywood & all that Jazz ...

Everyone should feel completely free to comment even if the film is more for special effects and money grabbing.
I have watched many many many movies that totally sucks, because I'm just curious as any other human animals. And I like a good dose of adrenaline into my blood vessels, just for smashing Picture quality and Sound waves sake. :b ...After all, I'm posting in Audio/Video forums from all over the Wide World Web (WWW).

It is only recently (few months) that I decided to revisit Must See/Own Films that are true Gems/Classics.
And Amir was a major contributor in my initiative/incentive.
I still have another month or more to go (by the end of Spring).
And it's good for the knowledge, the mind, the soul, and the heart.

One thing in life worth exploring is never be afraid and always be forward in everything we do.
There's a reason behind all of our actions, and the best is yet to come.
Living minute by minute, with the full intensity ... That's my motto/mojo. :b

Cheers,
Bob

I'm in the same boat as you. I tend to watch mostly "brainless" movies that just help me relax and forget about things for awhile. Embarrassing or not, post them anyway. I get a lot of my ideas for my Netflix queue from threads like this. :)

I just finished watching disc 1 of HBO's Boardwalk Empire. So far I'm not sure if I am going to get into this series or not. I'm going to wait to see what disc 2 brings.

Appreciate your comments. Kids have severely curtailed my movie watching, so I've got much less to add than I might.

Yes, Red Tails....I enjoyed the movie however it could have been done better. Not the sound or anything like that (that was great) - it was the execution, there were quite a few great actors in that movie, but it was written poorly - it seemed rushed and disjointed - could have been a GREAT movie...sad.

Actually, most movies could have been much better ... :b
...At the end it is the studios who vote for the money grab, and not the true artistic value.

The average moviegoer is not sophisticated; he's just a normal individual who don't want to think too much.

I think. :b

* Directed by Fritz Lang (1931). And starring Peter Lorre.
... That is 81 years ago!,
and today we still have these type of individuals running loose in our society, on the Internet!

But, this film is still as effective (danger, suspense, horror, ...) today as it was back then.
And then came Alfred Hitchcock, the true 'suspense' master. :b
{Don't worry, Alfred's flicks are coming soon here at Bob's Home Theater mansion.}

Have a great weekend everyone.

I've never seen this film, but I really should. I've seen Metropolis, which is also by F.L., which was pretty good, if memory serves correctly.

N.S. I think that you would like Jean Luc Goddard's movies.

--- 'Metropolis' (1927); excellent! :b

Don't despair, Jean-Luc Godard's films are coming. :b ...Got few of his on Blu.
* I might even recheck 'Breathless' (1960) tonight; thanks for the suggestion. :b

I used to watch a lot of "foreign" films, as my buddies were students of film. I remember watching a film, independly of them, which had a bunch of French students living in an apartment with a big pile of books on the floor.

Una pelicula muy bonita!

Yes. Soccer. Don't go looking for any soccer movies, as they're not too good.:)

I liked Bend it like Beckam. Course Parminter & Archie didn't hurt.
