What ethernet cables are members using?

I use this new brand PI audio Signature Roayal serie. Comparing to my previous AAI lan Mastozo and Assoluto mocels, and I like Pi audio a lot more to my suprise. AAi was very close to OShunyata Omega at that time. Now with Aries cerat is all different so starting all over again. Ok I have 2x Neotech 1008 on the way. Really liked the 3008 so will see what the silver can do.

I will pack in my anti-silver bias.

@Republicoftexas69
Did you notice any burn in on these? I didn’t really on the copper version.

No, not that I noticed. I am also using their USB cable..

For those who own/have heard the Neotech Neet 1008 or 3008 ethernet cables, how did they compare to previous cables you have owned (and what were those cables)? I currently have Supra Cat8 cables (also have an audioquest cinnamon cat7), but the Neotech ones are on my radar (look very well build and shielded for the money). I just don't know if others found the neotechs to be better than already upgraded cables, or just vs stock/basic ones.

Currently I’m using: from the wall to the SR router – self-made Molex Cat7a + Telegärtner plugs; from the SR router to the SR switch – first version of AudioQuest Cinnamon; from the SR switch to the SR Voodoo server – SR Galileo Discovery Ethernet.

For a while (with the Nordost QNet switch) I used the Nordost Valhalla 2 Ethernet – a very good cable, but like the higher-end Nordosts, not necessarily the best in terms of value for money.

I was using 1m and 3m Supra internet cables, each connected via JCAT network isolator to Metis FTA cables, for the JPLAY iOS app instead of WiFi. While the sound improved, it improved a lot more when I removed the Supra cables and left only the Metis FTA cables. Later, Marcin, CEO of Jplay and Jcat, recommended a cheap long distance cable on this forum. I bought two, 1m and 3m, and went back to the original setup, connected to JCAT isolators. The sound was as good as it was with only the Metis FTA cables, and that's how it stayed. Carlos

These Neotech NEET - 1008 really are killers. They easily best the Nordost Heimdall 2 and Wireworld Starlight 8 ethernet I have had in the past. In fact the copper 3008 is also better than them. I have another 4x more expensive ethernet cable in right now that is by comparison very quiet but also tonally very warm and colored (so may suit some systems and preferences but not mine) and the 1008 is much better.

Its rare to come across such a value champion in this insane hobby with it's increasingly insane prices. How many pure silver solid core cables (with 4x twisted pair runs) can you get for this kind of money? Sure yes the Shunyata Sigma/Omega LAN cables are no doubt better, but at 10x cost multiples.

I only got 2x 1008's but actually need 3, so for now put one on the TV and one on the NAS. Large improvement streaming video content and NAS audio/video media. I will get another and do a proper 3008 to 1008 comparison on my Naim 272 Streaming Pre. Perhaps going all silver 1008 will be too much for stereo, but from what I have heard so far - I don't think so, nothing sharp or fatiguing.

Even if you only have the 3008 the performance is fabulous.

What do you feel you gained (or what was different) moving from the 3008 to the 1008s?

I don't want to say too much as I was comparing the 1008 to a different cable on the streamer. The 3008 was on the Switch > TV connection.
I feel the 1008 just gives a bit more clarity and transparency but without any fatigue and brightness. Wont know for sure until I do a proper head to head as the 3008 is now back on the streamer and I cannot be bothered moving any more cables around until the last 1008 gets here.

Now I have received my last Neotech cable, and even without any break-in the NEET 1008 is slightly better than the NEET 3008 in every category. But it does it by keeping the same voicing. Its still slightly warm just like the 3008. I don't think you step into harshness with the 1008 at all (if you are worried about that).

Given the low pricing of either of these cables I do not see any reason to get a 3008, even considering how good it is.

Won't take much to beat a Supra CAT8. Awful sounding cable, IME, bright, with tight but depressed bass range, fatiguing sound.
Supras are great for data, but then again so is any cat 6

I agree, CAT6 for data avoids any potential grounding issue, unlike CAT8.
CAT 8 is fine for data also, just not audio unless you have a drain, you thought me that my friend.

I would not use a cable with shield-tied ground, even for data, not if it connects to my audio switch, because it can introduce noise. @Superdad taught me that. :)

I've gone so far as to use CAT6 with LAN Isolators on my printer, VOIP phone box and TV, to reduce the noise entering my audio switches. I can't say for sure I hear a difference, but it quiets the noise from my brain.

I didn't need the isolators anywhere else, I removed them from my audio chains in favour of fiber optics.

Try the Viborg LAN. Compared to the Neo 1008 it could be a little „smoother“. The Neotech has pronounced frequency extremes, but the mids are lacking...at least for me. In addition, the Neo is difficult to lay and does not perform well under high tension.

The best lan cable that I have ever tried is from Way Cables. They have 2 series of lan cables, the mind series and the intuition x series.

I am using the mind series and it was the first Ethernet cable that really impressed me by what it has done for my hifi listening and video streaming setup. I also have aims na9 lan cable and cm audio ultimate silver lan cable as comparison but both didn’t wow me as much a the minds Ethernet cable.

Following are the notes that I took back then:
The way cables upgrades improved my Apple tv projector image quality tremendously (the Apple tv and projector are connected to my hifi network switch and hifi power strip).
A) image clarity improved further where background details now become obvious.
B) the depth of the images improved such that movies become more 3d like. Less flat.
C) felt that dynamic range improved as in the difference between the tonality of the colors was more apparent.

In terms of listening experience:
A) soundstage became wider and deeper
b) imaging improved further (position of instruments become more obvious)
C) body and texture of the sound improved further.

The sound is really well bodied, dynamic and expansive when using the mind Ethernet cable.

I have listened to the intuition x cable and it is a substantial upgrade over the mind Ethernet cable in all matrices (soundstage, body, airiness) as it should given the pricing gap.
