No, not that I noticed. I am also using their USB cable..Ok I have 2x Neotech 1008 on the way. Really liked the 3008 so will see what the silver can do.
I will pack in my anti-silver bias.
@Republicoftexas69
Did you notice any burn in on these? I didn’t really on the copper version.
I felt the same when I tested it once.Won't take much to beat a Supra CAT8. Awful sounding cable, IME, bright, with tight but depressed bass range, fatiguing sound.
What do you feel you gained (or what was different) moving from the 3008 to the 1008s?These Neotech NEET - 1008 really are killers. They easily best the Nordost Heimdall 2 and Wireworld Starlight 8 ethernet I have had in the past. In fact the copper 3008 is also better than them. I have another 4x more expensive ethernet cable in right now that is by comparison very quiet but also tonally very warm and colored (so may suit some systems and preferences but not mine) and the 1008 is much better.
Its rare to come across such a value champion in this insane hobby with it's increasingly insane prices. How many pure silver solid core cables (with 4x twisted pair runs) can you get for this kind of money? Sure yes the Shunyata Sigma/Omega LAN cables are no doubt better, but at 10x cost multiples.
I only got 2x 1008's but actually need 3, so for now put one on the TV and one on the NAS. Large improvement streaming video content and NAS audio/video media. I will get another and do a proper 3008 to 1008 comparison on my Naim 272 Streaming Pre. Perhaps going all silver 1008 will be too much for stereo, but from what I have heard so far - I don't think so, nothing sharp or fatiguing.
Even if you only have the 3008 the performance is fabulous.
I don't want to say too much as I was comparing the 1008 to a different cable on the streamer. The 3008 was on the Switch > TV connection.What do you feel you gained (or what was different) moving from the 3008 to the 1008s?
Supras are great for data, but then again so is any cat 6Won't take much to beat a Supra CAT8. Awful sounding cable, IME, bright, with tight but depressed bass range, fatiguing sound.
I agree, CAT6 for data avoids any potential grounding issue, unlike CAT8.Supras are great for data, but then again so is any cat 6
CAT 8 is fine for data also, just not audio unless you have a drain, you thought me that my friend.I agree, CAT6 for data avoids any potential grounding issue, unlike CAT8.
I would not use a cable with shield-tied ground, even for data, not if it connects to my audio switch, because it can introduce noise. @Superdad taught me that.CAT 8 is fine for data also, just not audio unless you have a drain, you thought me that my friend.
@audiobomber You may be interested in my post here to help reduce noise on your home network from other devices and protect the audio components. https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/router-optimization-for-audio-quality.41294/post-1080894I would not use a cable with shield-tied ground, even for data, not if it connects to my audio switch, because it can introduce noise. @Superdad taught me that.
I've gone so far as to use CAT6 with LAN Isolators on my printer, VOIP phone box and TV, to reduce the noise entering my audio switches. I can't say for sure I hear a difference, but it quiets the noise from my brain.
I didn't need the isolators anywhere else, I removed them from my audio chains in favour of fiber optics.
Try the Viborg LAN. Compared to the Neo 1008 it could be a little „smoother“. The Neotech has pronounced frequency extremes, but the mids are lacking...at least for me. In addition, the Neo is difficult to lay and does not perform well under high tension.Now I have received my last Neotech cable, and even without any break-in the NEET 1008 is slightly better than the NEET 3008 in every category. But it does it by keeping the same voicing. Its still slightly warm just like the 3008. I don't think you step into harshness with the 1008 at all (if you are worried about that).
Given the low pricing of either of these cables I do not see any reason to get a 3008, even considering how good it is.
