I just purchased Martin Logan Ascents to use as my front right and left speakers for home theater. I am using the Focus ESL- C-18 as my center speaker. Can anyone advise on the rear speakers? I'm thinking of either getting Electromotion ESL X or the Ethos. Please advise.

Just curious what you decided.

I've got a 25 year old ML Logos that's got some cosmetic issues and am wondering if anyone has heard one and how the Electromotion ESL Center or the Masterpiece Focus Center compare. I'm similarly curious about how the 25 year old Stylos compare with the Electromotion EFX surrounds. My mains are CLX Arts with Descent i sub.

At some time I had an all Martin Logan home theater using the Ascent I and the Aerius I. Great sound, but the real star of the system was the Logos central speaker.

Thanks for the tip. It sounds like the Focus is one to audition to replace my aging Logos. I think the Theos, like my Stylos, are discontinued now.

Thanks. Of all things I've discovered there are no stores that carry Martin Logan speakers in Oregon! Fortunately, Crutchfield will ship and give me an opportunity to audition both the Focus center and the Electromotion ESL surrounds (described by ML as the 'new Aerius' speakers that are very similar to my wall mounted Stylos). Do you, by any chance know what the binding posts are on the Focus center? I've got a Shunyata Theta speaker cable with 6 - 8 mm spades on it that I'd like to use and hope it will fit.

Thanks for the photo, Jeffy

Can I assume that under the screw 'plates' (where you've plugged bananas in the center) there's room for 6- 8 mm spades? That's what I've got on my current ML "Logos" center cable and it's a good Shunyata that I'd like to use again. The cable is pretty new but the Logos is vintage 1998! Still sounds good but has some cosmetic issues.

I've got an Anthem 70 pre/processor and an MCA 325 (3 channel/225 wpc at 8 ohms) for the center/surrounds. The 2-channel system with CLX Arts running on Pass Labs amplification does double duty as the front L/R channels via a 'passthrough' on the Pass pre-amp. I'm also going to replace a pair of 1998 on-wall ML Stylos with floorstanding Electromotion ESLs. I almost went Aerius in 1998 but went with wall mounted electrostats instead
