What are the Top Horn Speakers in the World Today? Vox Olympian vs Avantgarde Trio vs ???

How is that supposed to work? The elipticor driver 21we/8542 have 92db/1 watt. Where comes the 4db drop? You'll have to explain that to me.
P.S
By the way one of best midbass driver in the world for me
The tweeter have 97db i think conservative around~ 93-94db speaker overall efficiency.
Crossover losses…

A bit higher than 88 dB, but not much and not the easiest phase angles. While not hard to drive it is not really a 300B amp type speaker IMO… at least not in a biggish room or playing loud. When levels were moderate they sounded great with the SJS amp but when things got going you could hear it harden up and the amp reaching its limits.

The measurement looks very jagged, which is strange, but I can say that I really liked the sound with the Air Tight 300b amp. I could live with it. This is my personal opinion, not universally valid.

OBXR and R80 are quite different speakers.
Yes..same tonality newer series of scanspeaker driver more resolution & natural sound.
Everyone has to decide for themselves whether the improvement in sound is worth four times the price. Personally, I'd go for the IBX or build something similar. It costs the same and works very well with tubes; smooth impedance, phase, and spl.

This is the one you should build from Troels... 95dB and DTQWT bass!

This is in many ways similar to my Hornings but with more crossover than the Hornings.

The best pairing I’ve heard a LV OBX-RW with is a PSET 300B, they output ~20W on a good day. Art Audio had a wonderful PSET 300B amplifier, so do Kondo (if going to extremes).
Never properly auditioned the R80, only at show conditions, so I can’t comment.

Yes, the Auditorium series (the OBX-RW is the top version of that series) are very SET friendly and will work well in a domestic situation. I have also heard them sound absolutely great with Einstein OTL/Einstein preamp.

When I change my speakers again, it will be something like this. The company will soon be offering the kit in poland. Dipole Ellipticor speakers (4x 15" bass, 2x 9" midbass, 1x middome, 1x tweeter drivers) cost €18,000 for a pair. The best sound I've ever heard. An example with Aries Cerat DAC

I think i will tested it,how how it sounds against the metronome

Roy Gregory wrote “Kevin does not prefer SET”.
In past I had a conversation with Kevin and he told me he designed his speakers with kondo push-pull 300B.
I think Kevin just prefer push pull 300B to single ended 300B and he does not like high power solidstate systems. Kevin had CH precision in his showroom for awhile but it I guess it was just marketing advertise for CH Precision.

He has used SET the previous several shows in Munich.

I agree with @morricab and @bonzo75 on the LV R80. I have properly auditioned the R80 as they did, but I’m afraid, @DasguteOhr, your comment isn’t based on an extensive audition outside of audio shows and distributor rooms. Rather, it seems to be based on web pages and technical specifications, as is usually the case in your postings.

R25 series speakers sound much better than R80 in my opinion especially the one with separate crossover.

Of course, I live 25 km away from the German distributor of Living Voice and Kondo. I'd say I know speakers pretty well. Two friends own Living Voice speakers. I always roll the dice before giving the answers:). What planet do you live on? I can only shake my head at answers like that.
Over and out

Excellent Stefan … For my part the most compellingly convincing rendition of this work thus far on WBF :)

Yes, I was actually looking for him to discuss his own experience/thoughts on highpowered amps with the AG Trio G3s. There are other owners who have apparently used higher powered amps with the AG Trios. I have heard them myself where the dealer used the simply massively high-powered Emm Labs MTRX monos (1500 watts per 8ohms??). I believe Jacob Heilbrun uses the Dartzeel 468 Ref Monos (475 watts/8ohms).
The age of the Trios makes a difference. Earlier ones didn't have chokes in the crossovers so were higher impedance in the bass but with each succeeding driver crossed in, the impedance went down with frequency. SETs will take umbrage with that sort of thing. The later speakers have this problem fixed.

Thank you and good to know. I have only heard the current generation (G3) and was extremely impressed by what I heard.
