Network Acoustics - Tempus network switch

Getting back on track I am pulled it to music, my Ethernet setup does just fine. I am a fiber convert,

I received one for review. It is burning in but so far it is EXCELLENT.

Any new impressions on the tempus switch? Are those who already have one still happy with it or moved on from it?

Excellent switch, especially when combined with recently upgraded (Fall of 2024 I believe?) plus Muon Pro & Eno2. It would be difficult to find a better combination for streaming.

I came very late to this party and posted my own review of the Tempus and Muon Pro at this WBF thread. I've used various schemes in the past to clean up ethernet streaming sound, including fiber optic connections, but these Network Acoustics products are delivering my best-yet sound, not just best streaming sound. As I say at the conclusion of my thoughts so far:

"These are essential to fully realistic sound reproduction at home from your streaming system. I’ve never heard digital disc, LP, or even analog tape playback sound this real, as in true to the sound of unamplified music heard from a good seat in a great concert hall. And this realism fully translates to increased enjoyment from all other sorts of music, including totally artificial electronic music.

"Yes, the cost is high. These devices together cost about the same as the Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 which I use in both my Audio Room and Blue Room systems. But the increased realism resulting from this cleaning up of the source cannot, in my experience, be had in any other way."

I too am a fiber convert (pair of Sonore Optical Modules Deluxe, Ferrum Hypsos Dual Output Power Supply, Melco C1 Direct Attach SFP+). Even with this decent fiber bridge, I still believe my Network Acoustics devices (Tempus, Muon Pro & Eno 2 Streaming Systems) add an extra helping of the natural, relaxed signature that Network Acoustics is known for.

I am absolutely happy since I bought the Tempus. Also did the MKII power supply upgrade which made another noticeable improvement. Since I got the Tempus it's still the best switch I listened to. I also tried the fibre option with a Sonore Optical Module Deluxe V2 and Finisar SFPs at some point but got back to Ethernet connection - and especially with a ENO2 or Muon Pro this is just far more natural sounding and gets a better connection to the music.

I might have missed an earlier post, but how did you find the power supply update? Worth upgrading?

Having worked with both Rich & Russ on numerous purchases over the years, I can confidently say if they are recommending the upgrade then do it. Since NA is shipping Tempus with the new power supply, that should be your indicator as to how well they feel the 2 boxes work together.

I have been experimenting with various fuses (which provided another improvement in audio performance). It's very interesting to see that with the MK2 power supply upgrade even the standard fuse performance was considerably better. So definitely worth the upgrade. And when using a different fuse that also took advantage of the upgrade.

What you might consider is playing around with isolation to further optimize things, like using Graphite Audio etc.

My 2 cents on isolation…this journey ultimately led me to Stack Audio Auvas for components, power supplies, switch. They come in 3 weight classes. Auras are under everything. They’re clean & simple, well made, height adjustable and, do I dare say, pleasantly affordable. Townsend Seismic Podiums under my floorstanders.

If you’re inquiring about signal isolation, that’s a different story. After trying numerous devices, I eventually decided to take Verizon FIOS Ethernet out of G3100 router/modem
(no fiber out if you can believe it. c’mon Verizon) to a pair of Sonore Optical Module +’s but with a Melco C1 SFP+ Copper Direct Attach Cable connecting the OM’s rather than fiber. Check out this cable design theory. By now there may even be similar, more affordable options out there since I made the conversion several years ago. OM’s are powered by adjustable output Ferris Hypsos single & dual output power supplies.

I prefer the sound of the OM’s connected to the Melco C1 over some very nice Finisar SFP’s & fiber cable. IMHO, sound over the C1 cable has more body & feels denser, more tactile to me compared to its fiber counterpart and that means a more emotional connection to the music. It’s as if you experience the best traits of copper with the clean, quiet & revealing qualities of fiber isolation. Then short coax from Optical Module #2 to Network Acoustics Tempus switch that was shipped new with the upgraded power supply last winter. There’s an Eno2 streaming system between Roon Titan & switch.

Last but not least, Muon pro Streaming System from Tempus switch to
Gold Note IS-1000MKII Deluxe Integrated. Yes, I do believe the Muon Pro streaming system placed just before the amp does add a 2nd helping of that natural, slightly relaxed special sauce Network Acoustics is becoming known for & I find that personally appealing.

Stack Audio Auvas under everything that has/had factory feet. Townsend Podiums under Totem floorstanders & REL subwoofer.

Actually the more affordable options to the MELCO were around first.
