Actually the more affordable options to the MELCO were around first.

I recall that chatter about similar but considerably less expensive alternatives. Couldn't remember which came first. My guess is Melco out muscled the others with their marketing, making it appear like they were 1st to the party. A/B comparisons were easy to perform with the Optical Modules. To my ears there was a touch more believability using the Melco C1 vs fiber.

Honestly I could not tell the difference in my systems, from the Melco to the Amphenol . Now I have completely moved to the Edison FiberBox II. Huge improvements.

I’m also using an Amphenol DAC with 25 AWG and have been thoroughly impressed by its performance. The clarity and detail it brings to my audio setup have exceeded my expectations

If anybody had hesitations upgrading to mk2 power supply, I would strongly suggest getting it. In my system, this is almost as much an upgrade as getting the tempus mk1 itself...

His test used a Melco Direct Attach Cable. The Melco cable is copper, not fiber, there is no optical conversion. A DAC cable has some advantages; it bypasses PHY elements used in ethernet and fiber ports, but because it is copper it will absorb EMI/RFI, unlike fiber. Also a DAC cable will allow ground plane noise to pass through.

I read a previous article from this fellow where he used basic fiber optic gear, not the quality components used and recommended by most audiophiles. Opinions are interesting to read, but he is clearly in learning mode when it comes to network audio.

Second tier optical gear creates second rate sound. You seem to have an issue with optical and anything that is not the Tempus Switch. Or is just me??

Sure there is a lot to explore with different SFPs etc but for those people interested the Tempus also has that functionality included as well.

I for myself have been testing various FMCs (from basic to IFis or Sonore OpticalModule Deluxe V2 with Audioquest Dragon Source power cord) over the years as well as top of the line Finisar SFPs - also along with the Tempus and to me decent Ethernet cables prevailed in natural and high resolving sound quality. Along with the Muon Pro that even improved another level.

Optical is absolutely fine to a certain level. For example have been using it with an EtherRegen and Sonore OM D V2, but the Tempus achieves just a better level.
And when bringing it to system of my friends they are excited too. So Network Acoustics must be doing quite a few things right.

You won't be disappointed! I have an ENO2 streaming system between server >Tempus w/MKII Power Supply & Muon Pro streaming system between Tempus>Streamer/DAC. Very nice!
