There are two motors, one per platter so you need a separate controller for each one. You can have them built into one large board or two small ones as you see in the pictures.

david

thanks. One platter rotates and the other platter counter-rotates - that is what I recall from the original I heard a CES. So now computers to keep them in sync at the same speed?

Makes the Wadax Ref dac look positively minimalist in comparison Lol.
A lot of independently moving parts ! I prefer the more straightforward function of the AS 2000 ! :)

Interesting times with both this new Kronos, the new Nagra table, and the not much discussed SAT. As with the AF Zero and Apolyte?, few will hear these tables, but it is nice to know that designers are trying to come up with something better. I wonder if this period is similar to what it was like when the EMT 927, the big Micro Seikis, the Thorens Reference, the Rockports and the Goldmund were new some 30-40 years ago.

I am glad these new tables are being designed and brought to market. I would love to hear some of them.

The new Burmester 217 Turntable just made its appearance as well. It has 2 belt-drive motors and some other features found in its big brother - the 175 TT. Lots of innovation and progress in TT in recent years.

Let's not forget David is working on a "big brother" to the AS 2000 ! I am sure it is going to be a monster !

I have owned and used the Kronos Pro and in my opinion its the most "overrated and hyped" turntable i have owned used or heard anywhere....

I have heard the Techdas AF0 on show i have visited this room 10 times and even in show conditions it was to me clear the most natural holographic fast dynamic and magical sounding TT ever its a masterwork its the Stradivari violin of the TT s its very expensive but its deserves if you can pay.

I have never heard the AS2000 but when i take look the the design and topology i could buy whit out hearing it once it looks very promising design and i am pretty sure the sound will spectacular.

Probably the Rockport Tables and the Goldmund tables are also in the premier league i have never heard those but i can believe....

I am using the CS Port LFT1 TT whit the own linear tracking arm for the last 4 months and based on my experience whit the Kronos Pro the Cs Port LFT1 will eat new "star war design" Kronos as a cookie on side of a cup of coffee:)

The Cs Port LFT1 has a retail price of 57000 euro including the linear tracking arm (which is a competitor to any other very expensive arm on apart from this on the market) by example its so much better in every area than the Techdas AF1P whit a retail price of 185000 euro (little more than 3x CSPort LFT1 price including the linear tracking arm) and you need a very expensive high class arm for the Techdas AF1P lets say 210000 euro including a upper class arm and still the CS Port LFT1 is a killer its has 95% of all superior qualities of AF0 for 15% of its price!

The motors always had the controllers, you need them to keep the platters rotating this isn't new. The PS might be different but I'm not sure.

I'm interested in why you didn't like the Kronos Pro LE (w/SCPS ?). The AF0 is far more expensive, so I can understand why many would prefer it. I've never heard one, but I'm sure it's amazing ...

While I'm waiting on some expendable funds (which hopefully will be in the next 6 months - long story), I'm still in the mode of learning about TTs. I owned a few in the past, but nothing on the caliber discussed here ... my hope is that I'll be redoing my entire system with MSB and possibly Magico M3s (this may change), Pass XP27 (I enjoy Pass a lot - currently own the 260.8s and XP22)...

My dealers near me carry the following TTs - Avid, Kronos, Kuzma, Dr Feickert, Pear Audio, and the Oracle Delphi mk IV. Out of these I've been leaning toward Avid, Kronos, Kuzma. I also heard a SME in the last 8 months that was absolutely wonderful, but no dealer is near me. The Oracle also looks interesting, but I haven't researched it....

I need a dealer to set the TT up - I can't do it myself (I'm essentially blind in one eye and going blind in the other - but I can still operate one for the time being ... and I belong to an audiophile club that can make adjustments as needed).

So what would you suggest? Are there other dealers that know how to set up TTs (from what I have read and heard, most can sell them, but many are hideous at setting them up - a blind man may do better - LOL) that will come to N. FL (for a fee) and set one up?

Maybe this should be a separate thread... but I appreciate in advance your and other forum member's suggestions.

In my opinion, it looks absolutely stunning. I am really looking forward to October and the first reviews!

I use an avid acutus reference with triplanar ultimate arm. It gorgeous looking and sounding, easy to set up, no maintenance. Some of these monstrosities being created new are so large (and ugly!) , I’d have difficulty getting near them to place a record.
Each to their own, and eye of the beholder etc…..

I cannot speak to dealers in your area. Maybe your audio club can help name a good one. There are several independent TT setup specialists in various parts of the US who will travel to your home. Travel expenses + 3-6 hrs time are typical. A few are on WBF. I have not used such a service so I cannot endorse one. As you suggest, perhaps start a new thread asking for other's experience or soliciting help. Imo, it is important to get it done right at the outset to get a baseline of performance and set expectations.

I think the new Apolyt is delayed because the automated, retractable stepladder that you need to flip the record is not working correctly ! ;) 2C534733-D9B0-44AA-852F-0186F8419E9C.jpeg

Great advise. Many thanks. I had no idea that there were people on this forum that would travel and set up my TT. This make a purchase of a TT from anywhere much easier. Thanks again.
