How good can this get? Celtics now have a player (2nd round draft pick this year) named JABARI BIRD. Take away the 'i' and the guy becomes JABAR BIRD! :D Perhaps his dad was a Lakers fan then. :D

JB just did 15 points and 8 rebounds in the latest summer league victory of the Celtics last night. He even collected a highlight reel. :D

There's all this talk about Ball but with ball hog gone, my eyes are on Ingram. If his college shot comes back and he gets even quicker as a slasher. Watch out. Depending on how he develops his body. he could be another KD or another Greek Freak. Same goes for all the talk on Fultz. I'm looking at Ben Simmons. It may be the new age of point forwards.

And here's Ben Simmons....a starting PG...seriously.

He presented his theory that LeBron, Paul George, John Wall and Boogie Cousins would all sign with the Lakers next year. Lakers will have the cap room and each of those players will be available in free agency. That would be interesting to watch presuming LeBron will still have gas in the tank.

He then applied the Patrick Ewing theory to the Clippers. The Ewing theory is that the Knicks were better when Ewing was injured - they went to the Finals when Ewing couldn't play in 1999. He thinks the Clippers might be better without getting brow beaten by Chris Paul. Interesting theory and I hope he is right! :)

I read that too, though I have been not too impressed with Simmons' last prognostication, in which he was loving that first round draft pick of the C's a few years back named James Young. He was so pumped up on draft day coverage on TV I felt so optimistic about it. :D We all know that the only famous Youngs now are Nick and Thaddeus. :D I think I just read the other day that PG said the Lakers thing has been overstated:

"I grew up a Lakers and a Clippers fan. I idolized Kobe [Bryant]. There will always be a tie here, a connection here. People saying I want to come here, who doesn't want to play for their hometown? That's a dream come true, if you're a kid growing up on the outskirts of L.A., to be the man in your city. But it's definitely been overstated. For me, it's all about winning. I want to be in a good system, a good team. I want a shot to win it. I'm not a stats guy. I'm playing this game to win and build a legacy of winning. I've yet to do that. I'm searching for it. If we get a killer season in Oklahoma, we make the conference finals or upset the Warriors or do something crazy, I'd be dumb to want to leave that."

And the thing about LeBron, is wherever he goes, the system has to adapt to him. He plays point everything. The coach even has to 'follow' him, aside from the GM and the owner. These are all history. And to team up with a crackpot like Cousins, well, good luck to them. :D

Don't look now but he's still growing. Reports are that he's closing in on 7 ft.

I guess we're seeing the result of the post Jordan era. Every kid wants to be a high flying, knock down guard. We have kids starting off at 4 years of age wanting to be MJ, Kobe, AI and so on. Then these little guys hit high school and some of the PGs and SGs have massive growth spurts and they take their handles, shooting and transition moves with them to the 3, 4 and 5 positions. Unibrow and even Boogie come to mind as extreme cases. Having Pippens is no longer rare and stretchy 4s and 5s will become even more common as the game and the population grows. Pun intended. My theory is that this is the real reason the game has changed not the rule changes. Coaches are adapting to the availability of personnel and not the other way around. The ability to play multiple positions is started from childhood, grassroots development resulting in multirole players with HEIGHT!

Growing...Wow. I was looking forward to see him play in the summer leagues but Philly has decided to sit him, and Embid for some reasons or no reason.

Big Ben sprained his ankle in the first game I think. Embiid has a history of injuries so they are probably trying to sort his conditioning out further.

Didn't watch the game but read this morning that Lonzo Ball had a big game against the 76ers - 36 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists.

Apparently he wore Nike shoes rather than Big Baller Brand shoes. Some say the Nike shoes led to his great performance. :)

Markelle Fultz, the #1 draft pick did not play for Philadelphia due to injury. Would have been fun to see them go head to head.

I saw some highlights, and Ball can drive, pass, and then shoot with ease. He even threw a length of court pass just like Kevin Love does, and he is not even as bulky as Love. Very talented no doubt. His dad should give him space and stay some distance so as not to pressure the young kid. This year is a talent rich draft, and were just seeing the kids at 1-3, not even Josh Jackson, DeAaron Fox, Isaac, or Markkanen yet. These guys will come out very quick and be noticed.

Might be helpful in the negotiations if Lonzo has proven that he will excel in the NBA first.

Lavar keeps painting a target on the kid's back. Thought Dad told Magic Johnson he wasn't going to interfere any longer...... :)

Lonzo Ball is the first player to ever record two triple doubles in Summer League before.

That is pretty impressive - wearing Nike shoes for one, Adidas for the other.....no Big Baller Brand. :)

I'm beginning to think that all of LaVar's 'noise' - from wanting Lonzo to be with the Lakers, to calling out the Celtics NOT to draft Ball and get Fultz because he's the best player for Boston, to creating his BBB shoes and pricing it at almost $500 for a late November release, to commanding a $1B 'rights' fee for his son's shoe name, to even cooking for Magic Johnson a few days before the draft, were part of a plan to be a billionaire even before his son has recorded his first points in a regular season NBA game. For that, I call him a genius, if not a wizard. :D And he's doing that without much a paid advertising bandwagon but instead is going to the sports media and even appearing in the WWE (taking his shirt off, ready to brawl with the more muscular boys there). I wouldn't be surprised if finally, one of the big 3 shoemakers actually strike a deal with him, even for less than a billion dollars. The guy is good. :D

Gotta hand it to crazy dad. People are actually watching the summer league! Man! Hate to see what happens when this kid who's been shut down by his peers gets marked by the big boy league's defensive specialists. I hope he has the mental and emotional fortitude to hang in there while he gets crushed. This is just my opinion but he's not Magic Johnson's second coming even if Magic himself is selling the kid that way.
