Truth be told the DAC sounds with any input
But the UMT plus and the network sound just a bit more seperation of the music
It could be just reading how much better it is too
But the DAC is really good though. I heard my first lampi today compared to mine
It's a level 4 gen 4 with USB input
It sounded as good or even a little better
With flac hi Rez. But then I changed tracks
And the margin was gone. I will have it back next weekend
Maybe and I will do some more side by side listening
Anyway I cannot wait to get to my office tomorrow and try the USB with dsd128
Thanks all

Al

One "last" bit of advice. Demo a Light Harmonics USB cable

You won't be sorry

Make sure to set up the Lampi right and the Lampi DSD module plays DSD128, no problem. Make sure to have the tubes warm up for an hour and then you are off to the races.

I hear that the TotalDac cable is half the price and a bit better!

I would have to check it out. The LH is wonderful. Personally I am hoping the "right" MSB ProI2S solution comes out where I don't have to worry about computer tweaks, OS etc.

The UMT+ is close but no gapless makes it a nonstarter for me

The Oppo interface is a p.o.s.
My music folder has 7000+ folders, and it simply won't read it via SMB/network. It does read it via the Oppo built-in "My network" module, but not through the remote app. Go figure. This sort of thing put me off the Oppo/UMT.

I think the remote is useless but the "My Network" works. It is far from a great GUI and that's why I prefer to use jRiver/jRemote.
